Meet Dr. James Schnell of Palmetto GI

A Columbia, SC native, Dr. Schnell earned his M.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, completed his Internal Medicine residency at Wake Forest's Bowman-Gray School of Medicine, and finished his GI fellowship at Vanderbilt University — before coming home to join Palmetto GI in 1997.
He specializes in GI endoscopy (including BARRX), hepatology, and biliary disease, and believes in individualized care: "Every patient is an individual with their own needs, and I tailor the care for that patient."

Outside the office, he's an avid jogger and golfer who loves boating and surfing with his kids.
