Knowing when to hold ’em, knowing when to fold ’em… and knowing when it’s time to pause.

Holy City Coping Club has always been about creating space for people to connect, breathe, feel supported, and know they’re not alone. And right now, we need to give ourselves that same grace.

We’ve made the decision to pause HC3 while we work toward securing the resources needed to give this community the time, energy, and care it deserves.

We’ve learned SO much along the way, and we are incredibly thankful for every person who has shown up, shared, walked with us, laughed with us, cried with us, volunteered, partnered with us, or simply followed along.

What we’ve built together means more than we can say.

Our founder, Sarah Shine, also needs some time to rest and refill her own cup. We talk so much about taking care of ourselves so we can show up for others and sometimes that means actually taking our own advice.

This isn’t goodbye. It’s a pause.

We’re taking some time to refill our cups, figure out what the next chapter of Holy City Coping Club looks like, and make sure that when we come back, we can do it justice.

It’s definitely not the last you’ll hear from us.

Until then, keep coping, keep connecting, and keep taking care of each other. 💛

Stay tuned, we will be sharing some resources this week to keep coping locally alive & well. Do you know a great group we should shout out? Tag them below!

With so much gratitude,
The Holy City Coping Club

Burnout doesn’t always look like falling apart.

Sometimes it looks like:
• Feeling exhausted before your day even starts.
• Snapping at people you care about.
• Struggling to focus on simple tasks.
• Losing interest in things you used to enjoy.
• Feeling guilty every time you rest.
• Constantly thinking, “I just need to make it through this week.”

Living in an expensive city can make burnout even harder to recognize. When housing costs, groceries, childcare, and everyday expenses keep rising, it’s easy to convince yourself that slowing down isn’t an option. Survival mode can start to feel normal.

But constantly running on empty isn’t sustainable.

Give yourself permission to check in with your mind and body:

Have I eaten today?
Have I taken a real break?
When was the last time I did something just because it brought me joy?
Am I asking for help when I need it?

You don’t have to earn rest. Rest is part of staying healthy.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, know you’re not alone.

Charleston is an incredible place to live, but it’s okay to admit that it can also be financially and emotionally exhausting. Taking care of yourself isn’t giving up, it’s giving yourself the ability to keep going.

We spend so much of our lives waiting. Waiting until we’re healed. Waiting until we’re confident. Waiting until we have all the answers.

But life doesn’t happen after everything falls into place.

It happens in the middle of the uncertainty. In the questions. In the rebuilding. In the moments where you’re still becoming.

You don’t have to have it all figured out to deserve joy, love, adventure, or a fresh start.

Go anyway. The pieces will come together as you do. 🤍

The Strawberry Moon reminds us that, just like the tides, we are constantly moving through seasons of change.

The moon’s gravitational pull influences the ocean’s tides, many people find comfort in using them as a mindful reminder to slow down, reflect, and reset.

Tonight, take a few moments to step outside. Feel the warm summer air, notice the moon overhead, and check in with yourself. Journal what you’re ready to release, practice a few deep breaths, or simply sit quietly and let yourself be present.

Stress doesn’t disappear overnight, but creating small moments of intention can help us reconnect with ourselves.

Charleston is bringing the heat this weekend. ☀️🌴

With temperatures climbing into the 90s and the heat index expected to push well into the triple digits, this is your reminder that slowing down isn’t lazy, it’s necessary.

Whether that looks like an early morning walk, a quiet beach day, reading a book in the shade, sipping something cold on the porch, or simply giving yourself permission to rest, let this be your sign to recharge.

You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of your mind, your body, and your heart this weekend, the FOMO will still be there but I can promise, most people won’t be out this weekend in this heat!

Where’s your favorite place to recharge in Charleston?

One of my favorite spots is Folly Beach. There’s something about the sound of the waves, the salty air, and a long walk along the shoreline that helps quiet the noise and bring me back to the present moment.

Whether it’s the beach, a hidden garden, a coffee shop, a park bench, or your own front porch, having a place that helps you reset can make all the difference.

Where do you go when you need to recharge in Charleston?
