Heart palpitations are one of those perimenopause symptoms that can really catch women off guard.

A recent patient mentioned experiencing a fluttering or racing heartbeat, and it opened up an important conversation: yes, palpitations can happen during the menopause transition.

Hormone fluctuations can affect many systems in the body, and some women notice episodes of their heart feeling like it’s racing, pounding, skipping, or fluttering.

But here’s the important part: we should never automatically assume heart symptoms are “just hormones.” New or persistent palpitations should still be evaluated so other causes can be ruled out.

For some women, when symptoms are related to the menopause transition, treating the bigger hormonal picture — which may include hormone therapy when appropriate — can help improve how they feel.

If your heart has suddenly started doing something it never used to do, bring it up.

It may be part of perimenopause… and it’s absolutely worth a conversation.

If palpitations are accompanied by chest pain, fainting, severe shortness of breath, or other concerning symptoms, seek urgent medical care.

Taking care of yourself isn’t selfish. It’s one of the ways you take care of the people you love most.

We spend so much of our lives as women making sure everyone else is okay — our kids, our families, our work, our homes — and it can become really easy to put our own health at the bottom of the list.

But I want to be able to run beside them.

I want the energy to keep up with them.

I want to feel strong, healthy and present for all the little moments happening right now… and for the big moments still to come.

That means moving my body, taking care of my heart, preserving my strength and, most importantly, listening when my body is telling me something doesn’t feel right.

You don’t have to ignore exhaustion, changing hormones, unexplained symptoms or simply not feeling like yourself because you’re “too busy” taking care of everyone else.

Your health matters, too.

Because becoming the healthiest version of you isn’t only about you.

Sometimes, it’s about them too.

THIS is what personalized care should feel like.

Hormones, symptoms, and treatment plans are not one-size-fits-all — and sometimes getting to the right plan takes time, questions, adjustments, and someone who is actually willing to listen.

One of the things Candice cares about most is making sure her patients never feel rushed through an appointment or like they’re just another name on the schedule.

Your symptoms matter.
Your questions matter.
Your unique circumstances matter.

And finding a treatment plan should be something you do together.

Reviews like this mean so much because this is exactly the experience Coastal Health + Hormone strives to provide.

If you’ve been looking for someone who will actually sit down, listen to the whole story, and help you understand your options, we’d love to talk with you.

Your daily walk is already doing something good for your body… but what if you could get even MORE out of it?

As we get older, preserving muscle becomes incredibly important. We naturally become more susceptible to losing muscle mass, which can affect our strength, metabolism, balance, mobility and overall health.

So instead of thinking you have to completely change your routine, try increasing the challenge of what you’re already doing.

Add a light weighted vest to your walk
Incorporate light ankle weights when appropriate
Pick up the pace and get that heart rate climbing

Small changes can turn a simple walk into something that challenges your muscles and cardiovascular system a little more.

And THAT is what I want women thinking about as we get older:

Not just “How many calories did I burn?”

But…

"How am I keeping my heart strong? How am I preserving my muscle? How am I building a body that stays strong as I age?"

You don’t always need to do MORE.

Sometimes you just need to make the movement you’re already doing a little more intentional.

If this song was playing in the club when you were actually IN the club… girl, let’s talk hormones.

Because somehow we went from staying out until 2AM to wondering why we’re wide awake at 2AM for absolutely no reason.

Perimenopause and menopause can bring changes in sleep, mood, energy, weight, libido, brain fog and so much more.

And no, you do not have to just accept feeling completely off because you’re “getting older.”

If you’ve been wondering whether hormones could be part of what you’re feeling, it may be time to have the conversation.

POV: You finally found someone who actually wants to hear ALL the symptoms.

The exhaustion.
The brain fog.
The mood changes.
The weight changes that don’t make sense.
The sleep issues.
The changes in your cycle.
The low libido.
The anxiety.
And that hard-to-explain feeling of, “I just don’t feel like myself anymore.”

As women, we’re really good at minimizing what we’re feeling. We tell ourselves we’re busy, stressed, getting older, or that we should just push through it.

But when several things start changing at once, you deserve a space where you can talk about all of it — even the symptoms you think are weird, embarrassing, or completely unrelated.

At Coastal Health & Hormone, the goal is for women to feel heard, understood, and comfortable telling the whole story.

Because sometimes the little details you almost didn’t mention are important too.

🎙️ I had such a great conversation with Kindal Boyle, of Fit Women’s Weekly, talking about ALL things hormones, wellness, perimenopause, menopause, fitness, and the questions so many women are asking right now.

We talked about what changes can start showing up, why women shouldn’t feel like they have to simply “deal with it,” and how understanding what’s happening in your body can make such a difference in how you feel.

If you’re in your 30s, 40s, 50s — or you have a woman in your life who needs to hear this conversation — please share this episode with her.

You can listen on Apple Podcasts or Spotify, or watch the full conversation on YouTube.

And if you enjoy the episode, make sure you subscribe, follow, share, and show Kindal some love so we can continue getting these conversations in front of more women.

Thank you so much, Kindal, for having me! I loved our conversation, and I have a feeling this is only the beginning. So much more collaboration to come.

🎧 Go listen, watch, subscribe + SHARE with the women in your life who need more conversations about hormones, perimenopause, menopause, fitness, and feeling like themselves again.

Estrogen is estrogen… but HOW you get it can make a pretty big difference.

Creams and pellets can both be used to deliver estrogen systemically, but the experience is very different.

One of the biggest differences? Flexibility.

A transdermal cream is applied regularly and can generally be adjusted or discontinued much more easily if your symptoms, needs or response to treatment change.

A pellet is inserted under the skin and releases hormone over a longer period of time—which can be convenient because there’s nothing to remember every day, but once that pellet is in, you can’t simply change tomorrow’s dose.

And this is exactly why hormone therapy shouldn't be a one-size-fits-all conversation.

Your symptoms, medical history, goals, risk factors and even how you feel about the different treatment options all matter.

There isn't one form of hormone therapy that's automatically right for every woman.

Not sure what your options are or which route may make sense for YOU?

That’s exactly what we can talk about during your consultation.

Does cleaning the house count as exercise? What about walking around Costco? Chasing the kids? Taking the stairs?

Here’s the thing: movement absolutely matters — and I’ll never tell you it doesn’t.

But as we get older, especially through perimenopause and menopause, we also have to be a little more intentional about how we’re supporting our bodies.

We want to get that heart rate up.
We want to challenge our muscles.
We want to preserve strength, muscle mass and cardiovascular health for the YEARS ahead.

That’s why I love seeing women work toward strength training about 3–4 times a week, along with regular movement and activity throughout the day.

You don’t have to become a gym girl overnight. Start where you are, build from there and remember: we’re not just exercising to change how our bodies look.

We’re training so our bodies can keep doing what we love for a very long time.

What’s one “daily activity” you’ve always wondered if it counts as exercise?

Apparently perimenopause is just stress now?

Let’s clear this one up.

Perimenopause and menopause are very real biological transitions caused by changes in hormones like estrogen and progesterone. Those hormonal shifts can affect sleep, mood, energy, weight, periods, temperature regulation, brain fog, libido and so much more.

Can stress make symptoms feel worse? Absolutely.

But stress does not magically explain away the hormonal changes happening in a woman’s body.

Women deserve better than being told to “just relax” when they’re experiencing real physical changes.

If you’ve been feeling off and wondering whether hormones could be part of the picture, you deserve to have that conversation taken seriously.
