Welcome to the Move Talk Zen family!!! ❤️ let’s show Mary some love in the comments 👇🏽💬
Get to know Mary:
Hi! I’m Mary 👋🏼 A Charlotte native (yes, one of the few!), therapist, and someone who genuinely believes therapy should feel like a place where you can show up as your whole, weird, wonderful self.
I’ve spent the past 11 years working in mental health, with experience in residential treatment, foster care, group homes, working with adolescents, and private practice. Somewhere along the way, I learned that people are complicated, relationships are messy, and sometimes a little humor helps us survive both. 😂
I especially love working with couples and families and helping people understand the patterns that can make connection feel hard. I have Gottman Level 1 training and integrate Gottman, IFS, and EFT into my work with couples. My goal isn’t to tell you who is “right” (because, honestly, that would be a very boring job). I want to help you understand yourselves and each other, communicate more openly, and build relationships that feel safer, more connected, and more authentic.
I’m also passionate about working with the LGBTQIA+ community and creating a space where you never have to defend or explain who you are.
And then there’s s*x therapy. ❤️🔥
Through my own journey in life, I’ve experienced and witnessed the ways conversations about s*x can both help and harm people. I’m passionate about reducing the shame and stigma around s*x and intimacy and creating a space where we can actually talk about it—openly, honestly, and without judgment. I love helping clients explore intimacy, desire, boundaries, connection, and what healthy s*xuality looks like for them.
At the end of the day, I don’t believe there’s one “right” way to do relationships, intimacy, or life. Therapy is about getting curious, figuring out what works for you, and creating the freedom to be more fully yourself.
And yes, I will probably make a joke at some point.
