Your ferritin is high... now what? 🤔
Seeing an abnormal lab result can be stressful, but a high ferritin level doesn't automatically mean something serious.
Ferritin is more than just an iron marker. It can also increase when your body is dealing with inflammation or other underlying health concerns.
Some possible reasons for elevated ferritin include:
• Recent illness or infection
• Chronic inflammation
• Autoimmune conditions
• Metabolic syndrome or insulin resistance
• Fatty liver or other liver conditions
• Iron overload
• Or sometimes, a temporary lab variation
This is why it's so important to look at the whole picture, not just one lab value. Your symptoms, medical history, and additional testing all help determine what your results actually mean.
We believe lab work should provide answers, not more confusion.
