Did you know your baby is actually born with their own built-in skin protection? 👶🏼🤍

That white creamy coating you sometimes see on newborns is called vernix — and it’s there for a reason :)

Vernix helps:
✨ protect baby’s sensitive skin
✨ support temperature regulation after birth
✨ keep baby’s skin soft + moisturized
✨ provide natural antimicrobial protection as they adjust to life earthside

Because of all these benefits, many parents choose to delay baby’s first bath and let the vernix absorb naturally into the skin instead of wiping it off right away.

We’re big fans of parents making informed choices with evidence based education + support 🫶🏼

Is delayed bathing or leaving vernix on baby something included in your birth preferences? tell us below! ⬇️

“Am I in labor?” 👀

If I had a dollar for every time I got this text… 😂🤍

Here’s a quick way to tell the difference between Braxton Hicks and true labor contractions:

Braxton Hicks are usually:
✨ irregular
✨ inconsistent
✨ more uncomfortable than painful
✨ and often slow down with rest, hydration, food, a position change, or just time

True labor contractions typically:
✔️ get stronger over time
✔️ become more consistent
✔️ last longer
✔️ and move closer together

The biggest clue? Real labor usually keeps progressing no matter what you do.

Sometimes your body is just practicing. Sometimes it’s the real deal!

When in doubt:
🤍 ignore it / stay distracted
🤍 hydrate
🤍 rest
🤍 change positions

Save this for later because third trimester mind games are no joke!

30 hours into labor and somehow we both magically forget how exhausted we are the second it’s time to push 😭💛

one minute it’s:
“i can’t do this anymore.”

then suddenly everybody in the room is yelling:
“YOU GOT THIS MAMA!!!” 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

the adrenaline, the emotions, the encouragement, the pure “let’s meet this baby” energy hahaha 🤍

birth is truly wild + powerful all at the same time.

Fun fact: babies start communicating loooong before they can talk 👶🏼🍼

A lot of times we assume every cry means “feed me,” but it can also be from gas, reflux, overstimulation, fatigue, needing to p**p, temperature discomfort, or even just wanting closeness and regulation. Since crying is their only form of communication, many needs can sound the same in the newborn stage.

This is why sometimes your baby will eat… and still seem upset afterward. Feeding can comfort them because sucking helps regulate their nervous system, even if hunger wasn’t the main issue.

So if your baby seems fussy after a full feed, it may help to also check:
• Burping/gas
• Dirty diaper
• Signs of overtiredness
• Temperature
• Need for skin-to-skin or comfort
• Hair tourniquets, diaper rash, or irritation

One of the coolest parts of parenting is realizing how much babies are already trying to communicate with us from the very beginning 🤍

And just like everything else in parenting, it’s not about perfection. It’s about connection, observation, and learning your baby’s unique cues over time 🫶🏼

Have you ever noticed your baby having different cries or signals for different needs? 👀

Motherhood has been the most humbling, beautiful, exhausting, transformative experience of my life.

It’s taught me that some days the win is simply making it to bedtime.
That love can crack your heart wide open in both the most beautiful and terrifying ways.
That moms carry so much that nobody else ever sees.

It’s losing pieces of who you were, while slowly becoming someone new.

There are hard days.
There are overwhelming days.
There are moments you question yourself completely.

But there are also tiny hands reaching for you, sleepy cuddles, belly laughs, and a kind of love so deep it changes you forever.

Motherhood is messy and sacred all at once. 🤍

you deserve to be celebrated- happy Mother’s Day 🫶🏻

For showing up every single day—even when you’re exhausted.
For being the comfort, the planner, the snack dealer, the referee, the safe place.
For carrying the mental load no one sees and loving your babies in a million tiny, invisible ways.

Motherhood asks us to be everything, all at once—and somehow we do it.

So today, I’m celebrating the moms who wear all the hats, hold it all together, and still pour love into every corner of their homes. You are the glue, the magic, and the heartbeat.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of us🫶🏻

No one really talks about this part of postpartum…

You’re told it’s the “happiest time” of your life, but what if you feel overwhelmed, emotional, or even… empty?

Here’s the truth 👇
Not all postpartum emotions are the same.

Baby Blues are common and usually pass within 1–2 weeks.
But Postpartum Depression (PPD) is deeper, lasts longer, and needs support.

🤍 You can love your baby and still struggle
🤍 You are not a bad mom
🤍 You deserve support too

If what you’re feeling doesn’t go away or feels too heavy, please reach out. You are not meant to do this alone.

As a doula, this is exactly why emotional support matters just as much as physical care.
