Dr. Ottey is an ABO-certified orthodontist, proud member of the American Association of Orthodontists and the American Dental Association, and a graduate of Meharry Medical College and the University of Maryland. But beyond her impressive credentials, she is a woman on a mission to ensure that the next generation of dental professionals has the access, training, and support they deserve.

🎤 Exciting news — I am speaking at the INJOY Health Education Virtual Summit this September!

My session, "Beyond Depletion: Nourishing the Postpartum Journey Through Global Wisdom and Community Care," takes place on September 11, 2026 from 11:25 AM to 12:25 PM.

Postpartum recovery is one of the most universal human experiences and one of the most consistently undersupported. In this session, I'll be drawing from my book Beyond Depletion and 30+ years in maternal support to explore how nutrition, cultural tradition, and community wisdom work together to restore new parents after birth.

You'll leave with culturally responsive, practical strategies to better support clients wherever they are in their recovery journey. 💛

We are so excited to introduce one of our incredible speakers joining us at Embrace & Evolve: Women's Health Reimagined! 🦷✨

Meet Dr. Elizabeth Marie Alston Ottey — a North Carolina native, orthodontist, mentor, and passionate advocate for the next generation of dental professionals.

Dr. Ottey's journey is rooted in excellence. Born and raised in Burlington, NC, she earned her B.S. in Biology from UNC Charlotte, her Master of Health Science from Meharry Medical College, and her Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Meharry in 2017. She then went on to earn her Master's in Biomedical Science and a Specialist Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Maryland in 2020.

Today, Dr. Ottey is a proud member of the American Association of Orthodontists, ABO certified, and a member of both the American Dental Association and OKU National Dental Honor Society. And beyond her credentials? She's a wife, mom, singer, and dedicated mentor to young people who are finding their path.
