Did you know? A simple stretch can make a big difference for babies with feeding challenges. 💛
Our occupational therapist and feeding specialist, Kayla, is demonstrating the Tiger Hold (also called the Guppy Pose)—a gentle stretch commonly used to help improve neck mobility in babies with torticollis, a condition where the neck muscles become tight, causing a baby to favor looking to one side.
In this position:
🐯 Baby’s trunk is supported along the therapist’s forearm.
🤲 One hand supports the lower shoulder while the other gently tilts the head to stretch the tight neck muscles.
✨ The stretch is slow, gentle, and always tailored to the individual child.
Early intervention can help improve range of motion, support symmetrical motor development, and make tummy time, rolling, sitting, and other milestones easier to achieve.
Important: These stretches should only be performed after being instructed by your child’s therapist to ensure they’re appropriate and done safely for your baby.
If you’ve noticed your little one consistently looking to one side, developing a flat spot on their head, or struggling with tummy time, we’d love to help.
