This weekend, a severe diverticulitis flare-up forced me to stop.

I spent Saturday on the couch with a heating pad. I didn’t exercise, complete the chores, or try to make the day productive. That was harder for me than it sounds.

When you are responsible for a career, household, caregiving, animals, appointments, and a growing business, productivity can become more than a habit. It can become the standard you use to determine whether you are allowed to rest. I could see the chores waiting.

This time, I left them there.

Rest wasn’t a reward for completing the list. It was the most responsible decision available to me.

We often celebrate people who push through discomfort. But good judgment also means recognizing when continuing will make things worse.

The work remained... I rested anyway.

Saturday, my body made the decision for me.

A severe diverticulitis flare-up put me on the couch all day with a heating pad. No workout. No chores. No checking things off a list.

Just crackers, Coca-Cola, rest, and trying to settle my stomach.

For someone who LOATHES a dirty house, leaving the chores undone wasn’t easy. I could see everything that needed attention - and every part of me wanted to get up and handle it.

But this time, I said no. The house could wait. My body couldn’t.

Caregivers become so accustomed to working through discomfort that resting can feel irresponsible. We tell ourselves we’ll stop after one more load, appointment, meal, email, or task. But taking care of ourselves isn’t something we must earn by finishing everything else first.

Sometimes choosing yourself looks like a spa day. Sometimes it looks like a heating pad, crackers, and leaving the mess exactly where it is.

What is your body asking you to stop ignoring?

Last Wednesday, I was in a funk.

Not the kind you fix with a motivational quote or by telling yourself to “choose joy.” I was emotionally drained, physically off, and struggling to make myself care about anything beyond getting through the day.

Taylor knew.

A text popped up on my phone: “Check your door in a few minutes.” My girl had DoorDashed me a hot chocolate and a glazed donut from Dunkin. ❤️

It wasn’t really about the hot chocolate. It was about someone noticing that I wasn’t okay - without making me explain it first.

Caregivers spend so much time anticipating everyone else’s needs that we can forget how deeply it matters when someone anticipates one of ours.

She couldn’t remove everything weighing on me. But for that moment, I felt seen, cared for, and incredibly grateful for the beautiful girl I’m lucky enough to call my daughter.

When was the last time someone did something small that made you feel truly seen?

I’m going to be honest… last week was a hard week mentally and emotionally. I wanted to crawl back into bed, pull the comforter over my head, and pretend that “adulting” wasn’t required.

But caregiving was still required.
My job was still required.
The animals still needed me.
Life didn’t pause just because I desperately needed it to.

So, what am I proud of this week?

I held it together.
I put one foot in front of the other.
I worked out four days and used my walking pad on two others. Not because I felt especially motivated—but because I’m trying to keep one small promise to myself.

Sometimes the victory isn’t conquering the week. Sometimes the victory is simply refusing to disappear inside of it.
And if that’s where you are today, I see you. ❤️

Sometimes, the person you love is exhausted - and somehow your body becomes exhausted right alongside theirs.

Not because you performed the same physical tasks. Because worry is heavy.

Watching someone you love struggle can leave you feeling protective, frightened and helpless. Your mind stays alert even when your body is begging to rest.

Then, without realizing it, sleep becomes your coping mechanism. Your body tries to shut down because your emotions don’t know where else to go.

That’s where I’ve found myself lately. I don’t have a neat lesson or five-step solution today. I’m simply reminding myself - and maybe you - that caregiver fatigue is real. We are not lazy, weak or failing because the weight becomes heavy.

Sometimes, the most honest thing we can say is: “I love them. I’m worried. And I’m tired, too.”

If that’s where you are today, caregiver to caregiver: I see you. 💛

Confession: I’ve picked up a bad habit lately: Complaining.

Work. Caregiving. Finances. Exhaustion. Situations I can’t control.

I’ve been giving all of it far too much power over my mood—and over the “oomph” I bring to everything else. The truth is, I need a break. Not an hour squeezed between responsibilities. I mean a full day away.

No work. No animals needing me. No caregiving responsibilities. Everyone I love fully cared for—and me allowed to rest without guilt. That isn’t available to me right now. But I still get to choose what I focus on today.

So, I’m trying something different this week:
✨ Capture something I’m grateful for every day
✨ Catch myself when I start spiraling
✨ Redirect my thoughts toward what is still good
✨ Practice releasing what I cannot control

Gratitude doesn’t pretend the hard things aren’t hard. It simply reminds us that the hard things aren’t the ONLY things.

What is one thing you’re genuinely grateful for today?

I am building this business because I don’t want my paycheck to be my only option.

There. I said it.

I have spent most of my life knowing exactly what it feels like to depend on the next paycheck. I know what it’s like to wonder whether there will be enough. And I know I don’t want to spend the rest of my life feeling that way.

I’m not looking for overnight riches or an easy button. I’m willing to work hard in the pockets of time I have.

What I’m building is an opportunity to create:
❤️ More security
❤️ Less debt
❤️ A real savings account
❤️ Sunday lunches without worrying about the bill
❤️ Something meaningful that belongs to ME

If you’ve had it with living paycheck to paycheck—or you’re craving purpose, community and hope for something more—I would love to invite you to tonight’s Opportunity Open House. We’re meeting at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. No pressure. Just information and a chance to see whether this could fit into your life.

Comment INVITE, and I’ll send you the details. 💛

I'm looking for HER.

Not everyone. HER.

The caregiver who loves her family... but quietly wonders: "What happens to ME when they don't need me anymore?"

She wants health.
Community.
Additional income.
Purpose.
Travel.
Friendships.
Something that belongs to her.
And she wants to make an impact on other people's lives.

I'm not looking for someone who wants another job. I'm looking for someone who's ready to start building her next chapter.

We are hosting an Opportunity Open House on Monday, August 31 at 8 PM ET. Comment INVITE below...

I've been talking about giving yourself grace. Grace doesn't mean giving up.

There's an important distinction:

Grace isn't: "Oh well, I didn't do it again."

Grace is: "Yesterday didn't go how I wanted. God gave me today. Let's try again."

You don't have to punish yourself into becoming disciplined. You can lovingly return to the promises you made yourself.

Lamentations 3:22–23 — His mercies are new every morning.

New morning.
New opportunity.
Not to become perfect.
To begin again.

Okay. I need to know I'm not alone...

Who else has a husband who turns molehills into mountains...
but when there's an ACTUAL mountain:

"Eh. It'll go away."
🤦‍♀️😂

Please tell me it's not just mine.

So... Jay wakes up earlier this week with what we THOUGHT was a sty in his right eye. Wednesday, it's crusted shut. Thursday, he looks like he got into a barroom brawl. Friday, his face is swollen.

"It'll be fine!"

What the... what?!?!?! 🤦‍♀️😂
