Today for Teammate Tuesday we have Kelly Homesley, one of our Registered Dietitians.

I chose a career in healthcare because I have always loved caring for others. I really, however, stumbled into the field of dietetics. Growing up I always said I wanted to be a nurse, mostly because my mom was a nurse and I loved the idea of it. My freshman year of college, however, I accepted the fact that I hated blood, things that smell bad and touching gross things, so I changed course quickly and got my degree in biology and chemistry. As graduation got closer, I really didn't know what I wanted to do with my degree, so my mom casually suggested that I apply to graduate school for nutrition and I am so thankful that I did! I am a firm believer that everything does work out in the end, as long as you give it everything you have! I could never imagine myself doing anything else, anywhere else. I have been at NHBS for a little over 9 years and I love being a part of the team here because we truly are a team (actually more like a family), all working together towards one goal- helping our patients achieve better, healthier lives.

Outside of work I love spending time with my husband, son and our little puppy, Rosie. We love going to sporting events around Charlotte, traveling and trying new restaurants around town on the weekends. I also love to go antiquing, thrifting or to the zoo with my sister and our two little boys. My favorite place that I have traveled to is London at Christmas and New Years. It was incredibly magical. We also took our son to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in NYC last year which was a lot of fun as well. Seeing the look on his face as his favorite character ballons came by was priceless.
