Refugee Support Services helps refugees and immigrants build connections and thrive in their new community by providing support, resources, and opportunities that foster independence, belonging, and meaningful relationships.

Their work closely aligns with Givens Communities’ commitment to fostering meaningful connections, creating a sense of belonging, and helping people live with purpose.

Givens Aldersgate hosted a Trees Charlotte planting event on our scenic campus. Charlotte City Council District 1 Representative Dante Anderson attended, along with numerous volunteers from TD Bank and three residents - Wil Gesler, Butch Allen, and Len Melancon.

Trees Charlotte is a nonprofit group partners with community to plant and care for trees, growing a healthier canopy that benefits nature and people.

Boot Scootin' & Boogie – It's back again!

Grab your boots, dust off your bandana, and join us outside the Winter Garden for a rootin’-tootin’ good time. Residents enjoyed a special performance by the Lighthouse Duo and our very own Givens Aldersgate Boot Scooters. Try your hand at roping, strike a pose in the “Wanted” photo booth, co****le, and enjoy many more surprises! Themed refreshments from our very own Culinary Department.

Sidenote, the Aldersgate Boot Scooters started as a resident initiative where the Walkers - Marty & Deb -enjoyed line dancing and wanted to share with other residents. They practice regularly and have brought in professional dancers to instruct, as well.

The United Nations has designated today - October 1 -as International Day of Older Persons, to highlight the transformative role that seniors play in building resilient and better communities by contributing knowledge and experience for common good.

Givens Communities residents serve as volunteers in numerous capacities, provide mentorship and tutoring using skills and talents developed through decades of professional experience, and create arts and crafts to be donated to worthwhile causes.
