Growing pains? Maybe.

But persistent heel pain in active kids is often Sever’s Disease, a common overuse injury that affects the growth plate in the heel.

The good news: with the right treatment, most young athletes can continue participating in the activities they love while their symptoms improve.

If your child is dealing with heel pain, limping, or discomfort during sports, schedule an evaluation with our team.

🎉 Welcome to the Carolina Sports Clinic team, Haleigh! 🎉

We’re excited to introduce the newest member of our Physical Therapy team! Haleigh Scott

Haleigh Horn, DPT, PT earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from High Point University, where she focused on rehabilitation with an emphasis on performance, strength and conditioning, and return to activity. During her clinical training, she worked with athletes of all ages in a Sports Performance clinic, helping individuals recover, move better, and perform at their highest level.

Before pursuing her doctorate, Haleigh graduated from Wofford College with a degree in Biology.

Haleigh believes in a hands-on, active approach to rehabilitation that focuses on building strength, preventing future injuries, and helping patients achieve long-term success. She is passionate about creating strong relationships with her patients and empowering them to take an active role in their recovery journey.

Her passion for working with active individuals began through years of competitive soccer, which sparked her interest in movement, performance, and injury prevention. Today, she stays active through Pilates and bootcamp-style workouts.

When she’s not in the clinic, you can find her exploring Charlotte’s restaurant scene, enjoying long walks, spending time with family and friends, or treating herself to something sweet.

✈️ Fun Fact: Haleigh loves to travel and has visited more than 18 countries! She also studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark while attending Wofford.

Join us in giving Haleigh a warm Carolina Sports Clinic welcome! 👏

Not all movement creates the same benefit.

🚶 Walking is anti-depressant.
🏋️ Lifting is osteogenic.
🤸 Stretching is reparative.
⚡ Sprinting is cardioprotective.
😴 Rest is regenerative.

Too often, people focus on just one piece of the puzzle. They run but never strength train. They lift but neglect recovery. They stretch but never challenge their cardiovascular system.

Research shows that different types of movement create different adaptations throughout the body—from improved mood and stronger bones to better heart health, mobility, and recovery.

The goal isn’t to do more. It’s to do the right things at the right times.

At Carolina Sports Clinic, we help athletes and active adults build a balanced approach to performance, health, and longevity—so they can continue doing what they love for years to come.

Which of these five are you prioritizing right now? Let us know below ⬇️

Carolina Sports Clinic was proud to be part of the NoDa 5K this past weekend! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

Dr. Sydney and her preceptor, Marissa , were on-site helping runners perform their best by providing treatment both before and after the race. From pre-race preparation to post-race recovery, they were there to keep participants moving and feeling their best.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our tent—we loved supporting such an amazing local running community!

Today, we said goodbye to a very special member of the Carolina Sports Clinic family. 💙

Dr. Caroline’s beloved dog, Cal, was a fixture at our SouthPark clinic for many years—greeting patients at the door, keeping watch over the office, and bringing comfort and joy to so many people who walked through our doors.

Whether you met him once or saw him every week, Cal had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He was more than an office dog—he was part of the heart of CSC.

We’re holding Dr. Caroline close today and remembering sweet Cal for all the happiness he brought to our team and community over the years. He will be deeply missed. 🐾

Muscle strength is one of the biggest predictors of how well we age. 💪

Not aesthetics. Not muscle size. Strength.

Research continues to show that maintaining muscle health plays a major role in:
→ mobility
→ independence
→ metabolic health
→ injury prevention
→ fall risk
→ long-term resilience

And now, the American College of Sports Medicine has updated its resistance training guidelines for the first time since 2009, reviewing more than 30,000 studies and 130 systematic reviews.

The message is simple: you don’t need complicated workouts to build strength and support healthy aging. Consistent resistance training — even simple home-based exercises — can improve muscle strength, power, mitochondrial function, and overall quality of life.

There’s also growing research around mitochondrial health and recovery. Compounds like Urolithin A are showing promise in supporting mitophagy, the body’s natural cellular recycling process that helps keep mitochondria functioning efficiently as we age.

Strong muscles. Healthy cells. Better longevity. Life is Movement.
