Save the date! IN-PERSON Parent Support Group on August 21st!!

Led by Tabi Youngs, LCSWA, this month's group will focus on developing executive functioning systems in the adolescent brain. Although we do not offer individual diagnoses or clinical assessments in support groups, each session is still guided by the needs of the parents present and designed to offer support around your current concerns.

Happy August!!

Could there be a more perfect month for us here at QCCC? To recognize national wellness AND national dog month, take extra care this August to slow down and set aside time for activities that bring you and your pets some joy. And if you don't have a pet of your own we'll make sure to schedule some Callie days in the office :)

Last day of the month means gameday! Welcome to Match the Office!!

All of our therapists may work with similar clients but their approaches, and even more so their offices, are unique to each team member.

Scroll through the slides above and see if you can match each face to the office space that they curated. Let us know in the comments if you think you got them all!

Our team had a wonderful time getting to know so many scholars at GenOne's College Networking Fair last week! If you aren't familiar with GenOne, they partner with talented, first-generation students from underserved communities in Charlotte to navigate the college process.

We were incredibly inspired by all of the confidence and initiative we saw, and we especially loved getting to discuss QCCC's goals and values with the next generation of young professionals.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table to introduce themselves and chat with our team. We know the future is bright with all of you in it!

Here at Queen City we love to label our emotions, because we know that identifying what we're feeling is the first step towards healthy processing.

But feelings can often be hard to put into words, so with the help of our service dog Callie we've put together a list of words for those moments when you just can't describe what's coming up.

Swipe through to discover some new vocabulary for moments that you're familiar with, as well as some that you might not be! And don't forget to stop and see Callie along the way.

Happy Friday!

Heading into another sunny weekend we wanted to share a little bit about a particularly interesting, but rarely discussed topic: toxic positivity.

Swipe through these slides to learn about how and when positivity can become irrational, or even toxic, and how to curate genuine optimism and realistic stability instead.

Closing out this week and our summer intern series with Matt Bourguignon!! Matt graduated this May from Wake Forest University with dual degrees in Psychology and Spanish, and he is originally from Mystic, CT. He is spending his gap year as our Administrative Intern and will also be shadowing group and individual sessions to explore the field before beginning a Master's program next year! Out of the office Matt enjoys running when the heat is bearable, experimenting with new recipes, and watching the World Cup (¡Vamos España!). He is excited to see the range of services and approaches offered by our team and solidify his plans for the future.

Welcome to the QCCC team, Matt!!

Happy Monday!! What better way to start the post-holiday week than with a featured blog post? This month, as the new school year begins to appear on the horizon, we invite you to re-visit some timeless advice from Brittany Collins, LCSW regarding the transition from high school to college. The jump can feel daunting to most, but Brittany reminds us that taking time for a holistic check-in and preemptive planning are great ways to ease some of the jitters. You can read the full blog at the link in our bio or by visiting qc-counseling.com/blog.
