It’s ADHD Awareness Month, so here are five things worth hearing on repeat, not just in October.

So much of what gets labeled as laziness, inconsistency, or “too much” is actually a brain that works differently, not a character flaw. Missing a day doesn’t undo your progress. A quick meal still counts as taking care of yourself. Needing rest or comfort isn’t something to earn or explain away.

You don’t have to do this the way everyone else does. You just have to do it in a way that actually works for your brain.

Save this for the days you need the reminder.

Fall has a way of sneaking up on us. One day you’re fine, and the next you’re more tired, more withdrawn, and harder on yourself than usual.

The shift in seasons affects more than the weather. Less light changes your rhythms, your energy, and your mood. The answer isn’t to push harder but to notice what you’re feeling and respond with compassion.

So before the days get shorter, let go of what won’t serve you this season. Give yourself grace, but don’t abandon yourself in the process.

Which one of these do you need to stop doing first? ⬇️

Healing isn’t a solo prerequisite for love. It’s often what love makes possible.

You are allowed to be in progress and still be held.

The one thing I stopped overthinking? My shoes.

Sometimes just ONE less decision to make is what powers my day!

Trauma isn’t a life sentence.

You get to decide what it means for who you become next. Not your parents, not your past, not what happened to you. You.

Remain a victim or alchemize your pain into power. That’s the choice, every time.

If you’ve spent years being told your labs are “fine” while your body keeps telling you otherwise, this one’s for you.

So many women carry symptoms that get quietly dismissed. Explained away as stress, aging, or something you should just push through.

Over time, that adds up to a specific kind of exhaustion that extends beyond just physical: it’s the exhaustion of not being believed.

This conversation is for anyone who has ever sat in a doctor’s office feeling unheard.

For anyone who has started to wonder if maybe they’re the problem, when really, the questions being asked just weren’t the right ones.

You deserve answers that actually explain what you’re feeling, not just reassurance that nothing’s wrong.

Questions to ask yourself before self-diagnosing:

Have I moved my body today? Have I talked to someone? (Really talked, not just texted) Have I put the phone down and gone outside? Have I done the basics?

We love to reach for everything except the answer.
New supplements, new routines, new “hacks,” anything but the simple stuff we already know works.

Exercise. Connection. Sunlight. Rest from the scroll.

The basics aren’t glamorous, so we skip them. Then we wonder why we still feel off.

Before you diagnose yourself with something bigger, ask if you’ve actually been doing the small things every single day.

Sometimes the fix isn’t complicated. It’s just neglected.

You can build the business, hit the milestones, check every box and still feel completely empty inside.

In weeks episode, I sit down with Rachel Medina to break down why “successful but miserable” is more common than we admit, and why your wellbeing was never supposed to be the cost of your goals.

New episode is live now! Watch on The McCord List TV (Amazon, Apple TV+, Samsung TV Plus & Roku).

Sleep isn’t the only rest you need, it’s just the one we default to because it’s the easiest to measure.

There are actually 7 types of rest, and burnout usually means you’re depleted in a category sleep can’t touch:
1. Physical rest — sleep, naps, stretching (the one everyone knows)
2. Mental rest — giving your brain a break from decision-making and overthinking
3. Sensory rest — stepping away from screens, notifications, noise
4. Emotional rest — space to feel your feelings without performing okay-ness
5. Social rest — a break from people-pleasing or being “on” in relationships
6. Creative rest — inspiration and awe, not just output
7. Spiritual rest — connection to something bigger than the to-do list

You can sleep 8 hours a night and still be running on empty if you’re mentally overloaded, emotionally unavailable to yourself, or starving for creative rest.

The rewrite isn’t “just sleep more.” It’s figuring out which kind of tired you actually are.

Which rest are you most starved for right now? ↓

You don’t need a crisis to change direction. You just need a decision.

“That’s enough” is a complete sentence.
No explanation required.
