What is dry socket? 🦷

After a tooth extraction, a protective blood clot forms over the surgical site to help the area heal. If that clot becomes dislodged or dissolves too soon, the underlying bone and nerves can become exposed, leading to a painful condition called dry socket.

While dry socket is not common, it can happen during recovery. Following your post-operative instructions and reaching out to our team if pain increases after surgery can help ensure you receive the care you need and get back to healing comfortably.
