A new school year can bring excitement and uncertainty, especially for ADHD and Autistic children and their families. One of the best ways to start strong? Help teachers see the whole child, not just the diagnosis. Read the latest Dandelion blog for tips on how to share your child's strengths, interests, learning preferences, stressors, and what helps them thrive.

Here’s to a school year where every child feels understood, supported, and valued.

School is back, and sometimes “How was your day?” is just too big of a question. After a long day, kids may be tired, overwhelmed, or unsure how to put their experiences into words. Try asking something more specific, or simply:

“Do you want to tell me about your day, or do you just want some quiet time together?”

Connection doesn’t always require a big conversation. Sometimes, it starts with a smaller, easier question.

ADHD and Autism don’t look the same in every person, and a diagnosis never tells the whole story.

At Dandelion Family Counseling, we believe in looking beyond the label to understand the whole person: their strengths, challenges, needs, and experiences. Support should fit the person, not the diagnosis.

Siblings Also Need Support!

When one child in the family needs extra support, it can sometimes be easy to overlook the siblings. Siblings may have big feelings, questions, worries, or needs of their own, and they deserve space to be heard, too. Supporting the whole family means making room for everyone’s mental health, relationships, and emotional needs.

At Dandelion Family Counseling, we believe you shouldn’t have to navigate this alone. We support the whole family, including parents, children, and siblings, because when one member of the family is struggling, the whole family deserves support. Your family matters. Every member of it.

The Dandelion Difference starts before the intake! We do therapy differently because we believe kids and families make progress faster when parents are part of the process, too.

It’s more support. More communication. More collaboration. And a therapy experience designed around the whole family. That’s the Dandelion Difference!

Dandelion social skills groups run year-round because social skills needs don't take a season off. Friendships, teamwork, flexibility, self-advocacy, and confidence are skills kids use every day, at school, at home, and in the community. Consistent practice and support help those skills grow, which is why our groups continue all year long.
