Many people think funeral directing is a quiet or even depressing profession, but no two days are ever the same.

A typical day can include meeting with families, preparing for services, answering questions from the community, filming educational videos, coordinating details behind the scenes, and providing hands-on care for those entrusted to us.

From office work to preparation room care, every part of the day is centered around serving families with compassion, professionalism, and respect.

Gardens have a beautiful way of carrying memories forward. 🌸

This perennial garden was originally created by a beloved mother-in-law with the goal of having something blooming from spring through late summer. Over the years, it has become a labor of love filled with learning, patience, and care.

From splitting hostas and bringing lilacs back to life to overwintering nearly 100 geraniums in the garage, every season brings new growth and new stories. Even the challenges, like fighting invasive grass or figuring out what blooms when, become part of the process.

Sometimes tending a garden is about more than flowers. It is about continuing something meaningful that someone else started with love.

DON’T BE WEIRD…read this before you visit a funeral home in support of a family member or friend.

We just returned from the book signing of the book DON’T BE WEIRD at the Cozy Corner Book Store in Downtown Charlotte.

This thoughtful book was written by local author Dawn Nowlan after the experiences following the sudden loss of her husband Shea. It is written to help all the friends and family who gather to console, help, or in some way show up to support a family following a loss.

I recommend that you buy, beg,or borrow a copy of this book. You will be glad you did!

Life is short, and it can change in an instant.

One phone call.
One diagnosis.
One unexpected medical emergency.

Truth is, none of us are promised tomorrow.

So hug your people tighter. Tell them you love them more often. Be grateful for ordinary moments.

The we're praying for might already be sitting in front of us.
