Congratulations to this family on the birth of their son!

A change in the birth plan can bring challenge and stress but this couple navigated each development with courage and optimism; welcoming their baby so sweetly, surrounded by providers that listened and acted on their wishes.

We are grateful to UVA University Hospital for their clear commitment to shared decision making and their awareness and sensitivity to the needs of those transferring in from the community birth setting.

This mom wrote "I had such a positive experience of transferring to UVA from the birth center. Of course, I wish that I had given birth at the center, but I'm grateful that Emily was able to accompany me and stay with me at the hospital until after the baby was born. I thought the way the UVA staff, doctors, and nurses handled the transfer was ideal. They were very kind & compassionate about my situation."

Happy February! This month’s potluck is a special one as it’s Kai’s last clinic day before maternity leave (time flies!) and the return of our very dear Mariah (just for the day but we’ll take it!), her daughter Ivy and a new little someone to the Riverhaven community 🤗💞 We won’t say a word more but can’t wait to have them back in the birth center.

Hope to see many of you there as we shower Kai in well wishes for a joyful birth and congratulate Mariah!

All past & current Riverhaven clients are welcome to participate in our monthly events!
