The pop gets all the attention, but it isn’t the point. That sound is gas releasing inside the joint, and it can happen with a great adjustment, a useless one, or when you crack your own knuckles at your desk.

What we’re actually after is better motion and fewer symptoms, and there are plenty of quieter techniques that get there, especially for people who find the noise unnerving. If that’s you, say so. We’ll adjust the approach.

Cooler mornings and firmer turf make fall some of the best golf of the year, and also the time we see more backs and shoulders tighten up on the first tee.

Before you change your swing, check where your rotation actually comes from. A quick seated trunk turn in each direction can tell you a lot. If one side clearly turns less, that asymmetry can affect your swing and ball flight, even before you feel pain.

Bryan is TPI Medical Level 3 and runs our golf movement screens.

In the days after a race, many runners either recover well or quietly dig a hole. General soreness that shows up on both sides and fades over a few days is doing exactly what it should. Sharp, one-sided pain that sticks around signals something different.

Easy walking and gentle movement usually beat total rest for getting blood into tired tissue. Sleep and food do more than any gadget.

Still hurting a week out? That’s worth a look, not a wait.

Pain is usually the first thing to go and the last thing to tell you the whole story. Tissue calms down well before it’s back to full capacity, which is why so many injuries return a few months later, often doing the same thing that caused them the first time.

That gap between “feels fine” and “actually rebuilt” is what the Rehab phase is for. It’s not extra visits for the sake of it; it’s making sure the thing that hurt can handle your life again.

Race week is about protecting the work you’ve already done. The fitness is built; the job now is showing up fresh.

Keep the legs moving with short, easy runs, sleep like it’s part of training, and eat the way you have all season. And on race morning, nothing new: not the shoes, not the breakfast, not a stretch you saw online that morning.

Good luck to everyone lining up for Saturday's Cville Women's Four Miler!

That 6-week appointment is a green light to begin — not proof that recovery is done. Your body spent nine months adapting, and your core and pelvic floor don’t snap back on a schedule; they rebuild with the right, gradual plan. Postpartum rehab is about meeting you where you are — easing back to movement, rebuilding strength from the inside out, and getting you back to lifting your kid, working out, or running without worry. Dr. Sarahfina Wipf leads this care with patience and zero pressure. Wherever you are in it, there’s no timeline you’re behind on. Curious what a first step looks like? The scale gives you a number, not the whole story. Two people at the same weight can be built completely differently—one losing muscle, one gaining it—and the scale won't say a word.

That's why we start with a 3D body composition scan. It maps muscle, fat, and how your body is distributed, so you get a real baseline instead of a guess.

Scan again a few months in, and the number might barely move while your body has quietly reshaped underneath, building real strength where it counts. That's the progress that matters, and now you can see it.

Curious what your baseline looks like? Make an appointment today!

Those first steps out of bed the sharpest of your day? Classic plantar fasciitis. Overnight, the tissue along the bottom of your foot tightens into a shortened position. That first stretch pulls hard on tissue that isn't ready for it.

Rest and rolling a ball under your foot might calm it for the moment, but they rarely change what's driving it. What actually moves the needle is loading the tissue the right way. Progressively building strength and tolerance in the foot and calf so the fascia can handle your day.

"Just rest it" is outdated advice. For most aches and injuries, controlled movement beats prolonged rest, which only leads to stiffness and lost strength. Your body wants to move.
