Cases of Measles are still on the rise due to the outbreak in Buckingham County. Please call us or send a portal message if you have concerns about your child's vaccination status, or if you would like to schedule an early MMR vaccine. Your best protection against outbreaks like this is to continue to vaccinate your children according to the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines.

With measles cases on the rise in our region we, along with the Virginia Department of Health, are recommending early immunizations for MMR starting at 6 months old. Pictured above is our lovely team at a recent MMR vaccine clinic (and swipe for more measles info!).

The measles vaccine is an extremely effective vaccine but patients under the age of 6 months and those who are immunocompromised are unable to receive it. They therefore rely on herd immunity, meaning most of those around them are vaccinated. When herd immunity drops below 95% the spread of measles infections rapidly increases, as does their risk and the risk of all those who are unimmunized. Please call or message our office today to make sure you are protected!

The best and safest thing you can do for your family right now is to confirm everyone has received their MMR vaccine(s). We are happy to get their shot scheduled ASAP if needed. Please call or send a portal message if you are unsure of your child’s vaccination status.
