Happy National Dog Day, friends!

I may not talk (well, not in words you'd understand), but I know a thing or two about mental health. When someone at H.O.P.E. Ranch is having a hard day, I show up. I sit close. I lean in. I don't ask questions or offer advice — I just stay.

That's the thing about connection: sometimes healing doesn't need words. It just needs presence.

So today, I want to remind you — whether you're going through something hard or just need a reminder to breathe — you're not alone. Come see me at H.O.P.E. Ranch. I'll be here, tail wagging, ready to listen (or just sit with you).

The sumac out at H.O.P.E. Ranch is already starting to turn — and no, we're not panicking. It's right on schedule.

There's something we love about watching that shift happen every year. The green doesn't disappear overnight; it eases into orange and red at its own pace, exactly when it's supposed to.

Signs of change can feel unsettling, whether we're talking about a plant or a person. But change showing up doesn't mean something is wrong — sometimes it just means something is transforming. Growth isn't always comfortable, and it isn't always fast, but it's often exactly on time.

Wherever you are in your own season of change, be gentle with yourself. You're allowed to shift at your own pace too.

SHHH... don't tell Kit, but it's her birthday! 🎂🎉

That's right — today we're celebrating Kit, Founder & CEO of H.O.P.E. Ranch! She has no idea we're posting this, so we might be in a little trouble later... but honestly? Totally worth it.

Kit poured her heart into building H.O.P.E. Ranch into a place where healing happens — where animals and people find each other exactly when they need to. She's spent countless hours helping others heal, grow, and find hope, and today it's her turn to be celebrated.

UPDATE: One-day Hwy 52 detour originally scheduled for August 14th has been postponed due to rain. The new detour date is NOW AUGUST 17th.

Heads up if you're heading our way! Highway 52 at I-90 will be detoured for one day —Aug. 17, from 5 AM to 10 PM — while crews pour the new bridge deck over the highway.

Both directions of Hwy 52 near the bridge will be closed, so please plan for extra travel time if you have an appointment with us that day. Highway 52 is expected to reopen later that evening once work wraps up.

🚧 Road Alert: Hwy 52 Detour on Aug. 14

Heads up if you're heading our way! Highway 52 at I-90 will be detoured for one day — Friday, Aug. 14, from 5 AM to 10 PM — while crews pour the new bridge deck over the highway.

Both directions of Hwy 52 near the bridge will be closed, so please plan for extra travel time if you have an appointment with us that day. Highway 52 is expected to reopen later that evening once work wraps up.

Hudson, caught mid-stalk in the back pasture, spotted what we can only assume was a rabbit committing several crimes.

His laser focus is honestly a little inspiring — Hudson doesn't multitask, he doesn't scroll, he doesn't worry about five things at once. He's just... here. Fully present, fully invested in the moment (even if the moment is a rabbit).

Turns out our animal friends have a lot to teach us about staying grounded.

That's a big part of what equine-assisted psychotherapy is all about here at H.O.P.E. Ranch — learning presence, patience, and connection, straight from the animals who do it best.

If you plan on traveling to H.O.P.E. Ranch on August 4, note that Highway 52 at Interstate 90 southeast of Rochester will be detoured for one day while crews set bridge beams over the highway, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The detour is planned from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
