An important study released earlier this summer has found that improvements in auditory processing abilities should be expected upon completion of Advanced Brain Technologies' The Listening Program (TLP). The research, conducted by Tracey Butler, Jane Schueler, and Dr. Jay Lucker and published in The International Journal of Listening, involved retrospective study of objective testing and subjective data related to 456 people ages 5-50 who completed TLP. This pioneering study supports our use of TLP as a staple in our at-home programming for many of the children with whom we work. As caring individuals, professionals and human beings, we support those who feel their voices have not been heard. We proudly join and applaud those who stand united with the intention of making the world a better place. We are feeling the power of caring people united for the all important cause of equality. We will do our part to ensure everyone receives the basic human rights and privileges our country has to offer.

Communication is the path to making a better world, a world of open expression and focussed listening, where awareness and learning are ongoing and accountability becomes common practice, so all may live safely with dignity and respect. We understand that change, and the hope, ideas and action that accompany it, begins with each of us, ourselves included.

We stand committed, both personally and professionally, in denouncing systemic racism. With love in our hearts and a yearning for peace, there is no place in our hearts, homes and workspace for racism and hatred.

Respectfully,
Sheila Allen and Anne Toolajian

In the midst of beginning to settle into the new Pediatric Therapeutics studio space, Sheila ventured to St. Petersburg Russia, where, on January 11, she presented "The Role of Beat and Rhythm in Autism Intervention" at a two day international conference, "Autism is not a Verdict" organized by the Prognoz clinic (prognozmed.ru) in St. Petersburg Russia. With the clinic's executive directors, Oleg Efimov and Victoria Efimova as her hosts, she not only enjoyed the conference, but experienced some of the vestibular and rhythm testing regularly conducted at the center pre and post intervention, saw the beautiful sites of the city, delighted in the Nutcracker, and was honored to have opportunity to spend time with this incredible pair who, with their clinical teams, are devoted to diagnosing and successfully treating a variety of conditions which limit children's performance.

Today's the day!...
We handed over our keys to 330 Main Street and moved right into the swing of things at our 17 Watchung Avenue studio, with the help of an "old" friend who was the very first to experience a session in our new space. What a way to begin the new year! Happy 2020 to all!

Halloween CAN be fun and safe for all if we are observant, accepting and tolerant. Thanks to Autism New Jersey for the reminder!

Trick or treating can be a fun experience for some children, but not necessarily for those who have autism and trouble communicating.
