Tennessee Behavioral Therapy treats children ages 1 to 22 using methodologies of ABA with a child center philosophy. We focus on treating not only the child, but emphasize parent training along with working within their community and school. The success of the child is a team approach with all persons involved.

What Tennessee's New Law Means for Your Child's Access to ABA Services at School

If you're a parent of a child with autism or a developmental delay in Tennessee, there's good news: SB 2055 (now Public Chapter 1112) opens the door for your child's private-pay providers — like their BCBA or behavior technician — to work with them during the school day.

**What this actually changes:**
- Your contracted provider can now come into the school setting (including the classroom) to deliver services, as long as it fits your child's IEP or existing service agreement.

**What has to happen first:**
- The provider and district must sign an MOU (memorandum of understanding) before any services begin — this isn't automatic on day one.
- Services can't disrupt instruction, pull your child from core curriculum access, or chop up their schedule excessively.
- Everything still has to align with your child's IEP team's plan, and standard confidentiality protections (FERPA, etc.) still apply.

**Guidelines for such services”
1. Raise it at the next IEP meeting so it's reflected in the plan.
2. Ask your district what their MOU process looks like — this is new, so districts are still building out procedures.
