Cheryl A. Hess, 69, passed away on July 24, 2026. Born on November 11, 1956, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Cheryl was a graduate of Tyner High School and later made her home in Harrison, Tennessee.
Cheryl built a life marked by steady devotion and quiet strength. She worked as an administrative assistant at Premier Trucking, where her reliability and careful attention reflected the integrity she carried into all she did.
Beyond her work, Cheryl found her greatest joy in the simple, lasting gifts of family and home. She loved horses, swimming, gardening, and, most of all, her grandbabies—treasuring the time spent watching them grow and surrounding them with constant care. A woman of faith, she was a member of Meadow View Baptist Church.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Malcom "Mack" Hess; her children, Carrie Edwards, Jeremy Edwards, and Savannah Hess; her father, Jim Wood; and her brothers, Jeff Wood, Jamie Wood, Matt Wood, and Todd Wood. She is also survived by grandchildren, Blair Walker, Austin Edwards, Tristan Wood, Cambrie Beadle, and Haley Beadle; great-grandchildren, Rowen Ayala and Alessi Ayala; and nephews, Nelson (Nick) Hess, Anthony Hess, and niece, Kimmie Hess.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Tamara Thompson Wood, and her aunt, Mary Thompson.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 Wednesday, July 29 at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 in the chapel. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
Cheryl will be remembered with deep respect and enduring love, and her presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Brett Allen Rogers, 36, of Birchwood, Tennessee, passed away on July 18, 2026.
Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Brett was preceded in death by his mother, Leesa Shahan; his grandfather, Johnny Shahan; his grandfather, Gale Slaughter: and his cousin, Shawn Slaughter, Jr.
Brett was a graduate of Meigs County High School and earned a bachelor's degree in History from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was an avid Tennessee Vols fan!
Growing up, he enjoyed wrestling and baseball and developed a lifelong love for the outdoors. Some great moments were spent hunting with his father and roller skating with his cousin, Kayton. He will be remembered for the joy he found in spending time with those he loved.
Brett was a member of Gamble Road Baptist Church.
leaves behind his father, Bryan Shahan of Birchwood, Tennessee; his aunt, Gail Slaughter-Cordell of Ooltewah, Tennessee, who lovingly raised him and was a mother to him; his uncle, Shawn Slaughter, of Ooltewah, Tennessee; his sister, Reatha Shahan (Stewart), of Birchwood, Tennessee; his brother, Keith Shahan of Birchwood, Tennessee; his sister, Ariel Shahan of Georgetown, Tennessee; his brother, Jacob Shahan of Athens, Tennessee; his sister, Kayton Akehurst of Knoxville, Tennessee; his grandmother, Charlotte Slaughter of Birchwood, Tennessee; as well as several cousins and many extended family members who will cherish his memory.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, with Pastor Mark Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Harrison Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the funeral home.

William Carlton "Shine" Hindman, 66, of Birchwood, Tennessee, passed away peacefully July 20, 2026, at his home.
Born in Ooltewah, Tennessee, on December 29, 1959. William graduated from Ooltewah High School, then barber college. He spent many years as a dedicated construction worker, and was well known in his community. William loved working on vehicles as a hobby, was a committed Dale Earnhardt fan, as well as a talented artist; but first, he was a father – dedicating his time, love, and guidance to his daughter.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Logan and Cornie Hindman; sister, Kaye; his brother, James "Peanut" Jr.; and his long-term partner, Shannon.
He is survived by his brothers; Michael and Dennis; and his daughter, Carlie.
William will be remembered for his kindness, his humor, and love for helping others. It was a gift to know him.
There will be a Graveside service on Friday, July 24th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lebanon Cemetery, located at 633 Lebanon Valley Church Rd SW, Cleveland, TN 37311.

Alwynne Gayle Haley, 82, passed away on July 17th, 2026. She was born on July 4th, 1944.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Katherine Harwood; brother, Marshall Harwood; and her daughter, Bridgette Haley.
She is survived by her sons, Ed Trotter and Jeff (Vicki) Haley of Chattanooga; her daughters, Gina Simpson of Woodbury and Tina (Greg) Cantrell of Smithville; her sisters, Carolyn (Bob) Colbert of Chattanooga and Anne (Robert) Williams of Panama City Beach Florida; 7 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Alwynne was a registered nurse for over 35 years, working at Memorial Hospital for over 28 years. She was a loving mother and caregiver who will never be forgotten.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 23rd from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory & Florist, Valley View Chapel, located at 7414 Old Lee Hwy, Chattanooga, TN. A funeral service, celebrating her life, will follow in the Chapel at 3:00 p.m.
Due to her love and devotion to animals, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Humane Society of Chattanooga.

Claudine Ayoub, age 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 08, 2026. Claudine was born in Guinea, West Africa. She was a member of Silverdale Baptist Church.
Claudine was preceded in death by her parents, Shihadeh and Latifa Bardawil; and her loving husband of 47 years, Elias.
She is survived by her daughter, Mouna (Emil) Ayoub of Chattanooga; son, George (Abeer) Ayoub of Jordan; son, Danny (Sylvia) Ayoub of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Elias Emil, John, Claudia, Christen, Elias George, Jessica and Andrew.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on July 11, 2026, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Walliser and Pastor Mukhles Hannah officiating. Interment will be in Silverdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. with a public viewing prior to the service.

Edna Juanita “Nita” Brooks, age 93, of Birmingham, Alabama, died Sunday, June 28, 2026, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Nita was born February 1, 1933, in Stevenson, Alabama, to the late E.J. and Catherine Houser.
Nita will be remembered with deep respect and affection for the warmth she brought to those around her. Her kind-hearted nature was evident in the steady care she showed to family and friends, and her gentle humor made time with her a little lighter. Known by many as the fun aunt, Nita was simply fun to be with—someone whose presence could turn an ordinary moment into a cherished one.
She enjoyed traveling, and she loved to sew. Nita was also a born-again Christian, faithfully attending her church until her health declined. She was employed at Life of Georgia as an executive secretary for many years.
Survivors include her sister, Lila Cromwell of Chattanooga; her brother-in-law Bill Steele of Chattanooga; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Pete Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Birmingham, Alabama.

Robert Leon Wheeler, age 86, of McDonald, Tennessee, peacefully entered his Heavenly home on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
Born in Gladwin, Michigan, Robert lived a life defined by hard work, quiet strength, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his beloved wife, Alice F. Wheeler, whom he affectionately called "Baby"; his parents, Harley and Eva Wheeler; and his siblings, Russell, Juanita, and Carol.
Robert had a special love for animals, especially horses, and found great happiness in their companionship. He spent many years as a long-haul truck driver before retiring, dedicating himself to a career that reflected his strong work ethic and determination. Robert was also a faithful member of John's Memorial Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and strength in his faith.
He leaves behind his brother, Gerald Wheeler, and his sister, Virginia Melchi, along with extended family and friends who will cherish his memory and the many lives he touched throughout the years. His faithful dog, Buddy, held a special place in his heart, and the bond they shared was a source of great comfort and joy.
A Celebration of Robert's Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Clarence Allen officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the funeral home.

Joe Frank Roberts Jr. passed on June 20, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on July 17, 1939, Joe Frank Roberts Jr. was a resident of Ooltewah, Tennessee.
Joe retired from Provident Insurance. He was a member of Ooltewah United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his son, Andrew Roberts, of Ooltewah, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Frank Roberts and Pauline Bartlett Roberts; and his wife of 62 years, Barbara Sue Parker Roberts.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, June 22nd, 2026, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Jacqueline Davis-Gines officiating.
Burial will be held at 3:00 pm (EST), Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026, in Hillcrest Funeral Home Cemetery in 1802 Madison Street, Shelbyville, TN. 37160.
