In breast surgery, surgeons may use an “internal bra” to reinforce the lower portion of the breast or the implant pocket. It can be particularly useful when the patient’s existing tissues are thin, stretched, or prone to allowing an implant or breast tissue to descend. It is also sometimes used during revision surgery to reinforce a weakened capsule or help correct implant malposition.
