Your traps arenāt always ātightā because they need to be stretched.
Sometimes, they need to work.
Farmerās carries load the upper traps and ask them to do what theyāre built to do: stabilize the shoulder girdle under load. As they work and fatigue, that constant feeling of tension can decrease afterward.
And that matters for the neck, too.
When the muscles around the neck and shoulders are constantly guarding or holding tension, it can contribute to that familiar tight, achy feeling through the upper traps and neck. Building the trapsā capacity to tolerate load may help reduce how hard they feel like they have to work during everyday life.
Instead of always stretching or massaging what feels tight, sometimes the answer is:
Load it. Strengthen it. Build its capacity.
