Happy Senior Citizens Day! 💙🫁
Today, we’re celebrating the experience, strength, and wisdom of our seniors—and reminding everyone that breathing well is an important part of staying active and independent.
Shortness of breath, chronic cough, wheezing, or changes in your ability to do everyday activities shouldn’t simply be dismissed as “getting older.” These can be signs of an underlying lung condition that deserves attention.
This Senior Citizens Day, make lung health a priority:
🫁 Keep moving
🚭 Avoid smoking and secondhand smoke
💉 Stay current on recommended vaccines
💊 Take respiratory medications as prescribed
👩‍⚕️ Talk with your doctor about changes in your breathing
Your age doesn’t mean you have to stop taking care of your lungs.
Happy Senior Citizens Day from The Lung Docs! 💙

What is Pulmonary Fibrosis? 💙

Pulmonary fibrosis causes scarring and thickening of the lungs, making it harder to breathe and for the lungs to work properly. While there is currently no cure, early diagnosis and treatment can help manage symptoms and quality of life.

🚩 Common warning signs include:
• Persistent dry cough
• Shortness of breath
• Fatigue
• Reduced ability to exercise
• Unexplained weight loss
• Aching muscles or joints

Risk factors can include smoking, certain environmental exposures, family history, autoimmune conditions, and some medications. In many cases, the cause is unknown.
Don’t ignore a cough or breathing changes. If symptoms persist or worsen, talk with a pulmonologist.

📍 The Lung Docs serves patients throughout Chattanooga, Jasper, and Hixson.

🚭 Ready to Quit Smoking? Your Lungs Will Thank You.

Quitting smoking is one of the most important steps you can take for your lung health. Smoking causes your lungs to produce extra mucus while damaging the tiny cilia that help clear it away. The result? More coughing, congestion, and an increased risk of COPD, lung cancer, and other lung diseases.

The good news? It's never too late to quit. There are effective smoking cessation options available, including:

✔️ Ni****ne replacement therapy (patches, gum, lozenges)
✔️ Prescription medications
✔️ Behavioral counseling and support
✔️ Personalized quit plans

At The Lung Docs, we're here to help you find the approach that works best for you. Every smoke-free day is a step toward healthier lungs and easier breathing.
📞 Ready to take the first step? Contact us today to learn about your smoking cessation options.

🚭 A simple screening could save your life.
If you’ve ever been a smoker, currently smoke, or have a persistent cough that won’t go away, don’t ignore the warning signs. Lung cancer and other serious lung diseases are often most treatable when they’re found early.

A low-dose CT lung screening can detect lung cancer before symptoms become severe, giving you the best chance for successful treatment.
If you’re over 50 with a history of smoking—or if you’ve noticed a lingering cough, shortness of breath, or other concerning symptoms—it’s time to talk with your healthcare provider about whether a lung screening is right for you.

At The Lung Docs, we’re committed to helping you breathe easier through prevention, early detection, and expert pulmonary care.

📞 Don’t wait for symptoms to get worse. Schedule your lung health evaluation today.
