🚨 LOW BACK PAIN? HERE ARE COMMON CAUSES

Low back pain can happen even without an injury. Common causes include:

🔹 Muscle strain or spasm — From prolonged sitting, lifting, repetitive movements, poor posture, or overuse.

🔹 Disc changes or herniation — May cause back pain, tingling, numbness, or weakness traveling down the leg.

🔹 Spinal arthritis — Joint changes can lead to stiffness and pain with movement.

🔹 Sacroiliac joint irritation — May cause pain in the lower back or buttock.

🔹 Inactivity — Staying in one position too long can increase stiffness and discomfort.

🔹 Other medical conditions — Kidney problems, inflammation, fractures, and other conditions can also cause back pain.

💡 HOW WE MAY HELP AT CONNECTING CHIROPRACTIC

✅ Chiropractic adjustments can provide relief, increased R.O.M., increased blood flow, and decrease inflammation for people with low back pain.

✅ Massage, stretching, manual therapy, instrument-assisted techniques, and cupping may help some people move more comfortably.

✅ Ultrasound or shockwave therapy may be appropriate in selected cases. These tools allow us to work at a cellular level in the soft tissue helping to release ATP and spark the repair pathways.

✅ Exercise, gentle movement, gradual strengthening, and activity modification are often key parts of recovery.

🚨 SEEK EMERGENCY CARE for new loss of bladder or bowel control, difficulty urinating, numbness around the groin, or progressive leg weakness.

Not all back pain is the same. Identifying the likely cause helps guide appropriate care.

Is your arm going numb, tingling, or feeling weak? There may be more to it than you realize.

Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) is a condition where nerves or blood vessels get squeezed in the small space between your neck and shoulder, near the collarbone.

What can it feel like?

It depends on what is being compressed:

* Nerves (most common at 95%): pain, tingling, numbness, or weakness in the neck, shoulder, arm, or hand. It sometimes
feels like a chronic kink in the neck.
* Veins: arm swelling, heaviness, bluish discoloration, or a feeling of fullness.
* Arteries (less common): a cold or pale hand, reduced circulation, or pain with activity.

Symptoms can sometimes worsen when you raise your arm or do repetitive overhead activities. 🙆‍♂️

Why does it happen?

The space can become crowded because of things such as:

* Tight or overactive neck/chest muscles
* Poor posture
* Repetitive arm movements
* An injury
* An extra rib or other anatomical variation

How is it treated?

Treatment depends on the type and severity.

Chiropractic or Physical Therapy— usually the first step

* Improving posture 🧘‍♀️
* Stretching tight muscles 🤸
* Strengthening shoulder and upper-back muscles 🏋️
* Improving how the shoulder blade moves
* Reducing positions that compress the area

Why should someone still get routine adjustments after their aches and pains have gone away?

1) Early detection/Prevention of misalignments. We all develop some sort of daily routine which creates muscle memory. That repetition can take a toll on our bodies, and getting routine adjustments can help us develop a healthier muscle and joint balance.

2) Increased physiological and biological performance. Adjustments help general range of motion by keeping joints healthy while creating more stability. This also allows the body to communicate between muscles and neurons at a much more efficient level.

3) Long-term wellness. There are more than enough studies that show overall health is improved with routine adjustments. Arthritic changes can be slowed down to a near halt. Stress, as well as quality of sleep, also show impressive improvements!

If there's any question, please call or text us at (918) 380-4808!
