"I was conditioned to believe I was the problem, and now I trust myself."

This is what my client said to me today as she reflected on the work we've done together over the pat 6 months. This is my dream - to help women trust themselves. I believe the whole world can change as women begin to trust themselves.

Grief
is not just about the loss of a person
Grief
is about the loss of the life you thought you'd have
Grief
is about the loss of an experience, the end of an era
Grief
is about a broken heart, missing, longing, nostalgia
Grief
is about hopelessness, isolation, and loneliness
💔❤️‍🔥
and then somewhere in the depths of that despair,
Grief
becomes a sacred revealing
of what matters most
and the choices you have now
Grief
when you sit with her, unwrap her tenderly, and hold her,
will become a doorway to a new beginning
❤️‍🩹💝

Much of my work for myself and my clients has required me to be what I refer to as a "grief doula" but not because someone is actively dying. It's because there is a gap between what they would like to be experiencing (in life, parenting, partnership, friendship, and/or career) and what they actually are experiencing.

This podcast is an excellent resource for women who are considering divorce or in the divorce process.

In this episode, the divorce coach and podcast host Kate Anthony advocates for women to reach out for advice before there is a emergency.

She says, "You call when you need someone who understands abuse to help you sort through the difference between discomfort and danger."

And I think that's the crux of it. It's hard to sort out what's dangerous when you've been handling escalating emotional and psychological discomfort for so long. Speaking with someone who has an understanding of abuse dynamics can bring clarity to your situation and help you figure out the next steps.

You may have heard it so many times. "Make a safety plan." And every single time, the women I talk to say the same thing: okay, but what does that actually mean? In this solo episode, I'm walking you through what a safety plan actually is, why it matters, how to contact a domestic violence agency or...

When I was experiencing BIG grief, breathwork practices like this grounded me. It gave me something "to do," it helped stop the overthinking, and it relieved the painful physical sensations grief creates.

Since this time, breathwork has become a part of my day, even if it's just breath awareness, or taking a few deep belly breaths with special attention on activating my diaphragm.

Consistent quality sleep has been difficult to attain in my household lately, and I felt I needed an energy shift. I wanted to share the practice I engaged with today.

A fantastic article about a clinician’s experience as a client in a coercive and abusive relationship.

“What I needed, and could not say to her [the therapist] because she had not asked, was for somebody in the room to know that the man sitting beside me was the person I needed to be safe from.”

My personal and professional experience has led me to work with women who find themselves in these kinds of relationships. They are working hard on their “anxious attachment” or their “sexual desire” issues, and this ends up keeping them in this dynamic. They are trying fix themselves, prove to themselves and their partner that they can make things work. Because they don’t give up easily.

The women I meet don’t need fixing. They need honoring, they need witnessing, the need a revealing of the parts they are less connected to.

When women come to my office, they begin to awaken to their needs, sense of safety, and what truly matters to them. And when that happens, the relationship either changes or ends. (This is the concise explanation for something that’s much more complicated.)
