✨ LUY Student Spotlight: Liz G ✨
What brought you to LUY for the first time?
I had taken a beginner yoga series right before COVID and continued practicing virtually during the pandemic. Once things started returning to normal, I knew I wanted to find in-person classes close to home because virtual yoga just was not the same for me anymore. There were not many options nearby, and I was struggling to find the right fit. One day, my daughter’s best friend’s dad posted on social media that he was doing yoga with Lauren, so I checked out Lauren’s page and discovered she offered a couple classes very close to where I live. I went to one class and never stopped going after that.
How has your practice changed since you started?
My practice has changed so much both physically and mentally. I have become stronger, more confident, and able to move deeper into poses. I still remember the first time I successfully did a chaturanga because it made me realize that consistency and practice were truly paying off. Mentally, yoga has helped me slow down and be more patient and present. I used to struggle with slower flows, but now I appreciate how grounding they can be. Yoga has helped me breathe through stressful moments and stay more connected to myself both on and off the mat. It has truly become part of who I am.
What’s your favorite class or style at LUY and why?
I will always be a power vinyasa or vinyasa girl. I love the fast-paced flow, getting my heart rate up, and feeling strong during class. Those classes leave me feeling energized, challenged, and accomplished every time.
What benefits have you noticed in your daily life from yoga?
Overall, my body feels stronger, lighter, and healthier. I am more flexible and know I am supporting my long-term mobility and health. Yoga has also taught me to slow down, breathe, and really listen to what my body needs each day. Spiritually and physically, it helps me stay more present and has given me so much gratitude.
