George P. Kalos, age 82, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at D’Youville Senior Care in Lowell on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. George was the beloved husband of the late Rosalie J. (Sarcione) Kalos, with whom he enjoyed 48 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2021.
George was born in Peristeri, Greece on November 8, 1943 to the late Panagiotis Kalogeropoulos of Greece and Zaharoula (Soiles) Economidou of Lowell, MA.
He was a hardworking, courageous, intelligent, and self-made man, who naturally garnered respect and captured hearts wherever he went. One could always count on him to find a solution to any problem and to bravely stand up for what he believed in. Most importantly, he was a man who always went out of his way to help others in need.
George served honorably as a U.S. Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division, “The Screaming Eagles”. He went on to attend Northern Essex Community College, then became a computer programmer at Raytheon in Andover, MA. George subsequently worked many years as a cobbler, establishing The Cobbler Hut in Chelmsford. He also became a general contractor, building homes across the Northeast Massachusetts & Southern New Hampshire areas. He proudly owned and restored Chelmsford Square’s historic Centre Mall and old depot freight building in the late 1980s.
George will be greatly missed by his daughters Jennifer Kalos of Chelmsford and Gina Brunelas of Florida, son Arthur Kalos of North Carolina, granddaughter Giuliana Brunelas of New York, grandsons Niko & Angelo Brunelas of Florida and George Kalos of North Carolina, niece Shirley & nephew Peter Kalogeropoulos of Lowell, and his many other family members & friends.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 4pm to 7pm at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 10am at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Father John Sarantos Way, LOWELL. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, LOWELL.
