You all have stood up and said that we deserve this kind of care, this kind of access, this kind of knowledge about our bodies, and I’m profoundly proud and grateful to be making noise and linking arms with you all! We’re not done yet, but this week is a time to take a breath and celebrate because while we still have a long way to go, let’s look back and see how far we’ve come!

This Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 9AM- 4:30PM the FDA is holding a public hearing regarding testosterone use in postmenopausal women; specifically, they plan on discussing current scienific evidence as well as knowledge gaps, in order to guide future research and development of drugs in this area.

While WELL overdue, this is important for us to SHOW UP for. You saw what a difference it made last summer for removing the black box warning label on estrogen products. Please, show up again this time around. I know midlife care often feels hopeless, and frustrating. But like I said, we were able to move the needle pretty significantly last year, and I have faith that by showing up for ourselves, for others, and for future generation with these same measures, we can make a change.

Testosterone is widely known to help with low libido; but it’s also a whole-body hormone, and while we know it can help with cognition, energy, motivation, and muscle mass, there is still much we do not understand, especially in female bodies.

My hope is that this meeting will make a female testosterone product available and accessible, while also encouraging more research that is so desperately needed, so that we can better understand both the risks and the benefits of using this hormone.

This author has uncovered a most delicious piece of news, and for once, it involves no scandal at all — only celebration. It is a truth universally acknowledged that a practice in possession of a beautiful new address must be in want of a proper introduction to the neighborhood.

And so, on Saturday, the 19th of September, from three o'clock until five in the afternoon, the doors of **Sapphire Women's Healthcare** shall open wide at their handsome new situation upon Meeting House Road, Chelmsford. Come one, come all — whether you are a devoted patient of long standing or simply Diamond-curious about the goings-on within — for an Open House the (Chelmsford) Ton shall be talking about well past the next Season.

Light refreshments shall be served (this author cannot confirm nor deny the presence of something resembling a proper English tea), the rooms are ready for admiring, and the whole affair promises to be considerably less fraught than a Bridgerton ball, with considerably better company.

It’s and I got to thrive alongside Lindsay from Women’s Health NPs as we discussed the that the U.S. FDA has yet to recognize despite patients and clinicians and pharmacists from all across the country reporting the difficulties of getting these prescriptions into the hands of patients. We are so grateful to Molly from Rep. Debbie Dingell office for taking the time to meet with us today and work to strategize how to improve access. Coming away from the meeting, I was feeling an overall sense of optimism; not because we think something is going to change overnight but because the stories we were able to share are powerful. The taboo surrounding menopause is falling because women share their stories, and in doing so not only help others feel less alone, but also share the ways they have found help.
So, keep sharing: petitions, pharmacies, clinicians, books, podcasts, courses… everything that has helped you navigate midlife, everyone who has helped you feel like you again, and all the ways we can get loud and advocate for ourselves and for others.
I am deeply, profoundly grateful to live in a country with the freedom to speak up about what is wrong, and to work alongside dedicated lawmakers who are listening to our stories and willing to fight to make things better.
And I will never stop being profoundly grateful for the trust my patients put in me, for sharing their stories and letting me into their lives.
It is, truly, a privilege.

When we moved to our new location, I knew I wanted our logo displayed over Gabi’s desk when you walk in. I thought I found the right person to do it, then he ghosted me. I thought I found the right person again, and she ghosted me. During a conversation with friends, someone mentioned that Crystal at Tiny Tile Mosaics does logos. We had connected a couple of times in the past at The Druzy Rose and with and I’d always loved her energy, and was so excited when she said yes to our project.
From the get go, we could tell we were in the best of hands; Crystal turned our logo into a true piece of art, so much more beautiful than I ever could have imagined, and I’m so beyond words with the final product! It is truly a focal piece that I will always treasure, because of the love and care she put into it, the sparkle she added, and the gorgeous feminine energy flowing through it all. It is so stunning, and these videos do not do it justice (so come see it in person at our open house on 9/19!).
I love this piece, and it’s made all the more special because it was created by another woman-owned Chelmsford business.
The Universe really knows what it’s doing; when you ask for something and don’t get it, it just may be because the Universe knows there’s something so much better on its way!

Who better to quote for this than the late, extremely great, Gloria Steinem?

Gloria spent her life organizing grassroots political and activist campaigns, working towards reproductive freedoms, financial freedoms for women (e.g opening a credit card without a male co-signer), intersectional feminism, repercussions for sexual harassment, and so much more. She spread light wherever she could, in all the ways she could.

We each have a light; we each have an issue we care deeply about. It's our job to keep that particular torch burning, and to light torches of others. I don't think it's a secret that one of my torches is excellent midlife care for women, and I will be using my torch to light a fire under the butts of people who can help change policy about menopause care.

Things like petitioning the FDA to declare a shortage on the estrogen patch. Things like attending (virtually) next week's FDA public hearing on testosterone use in women. And, in the meantime, I'll keep lighting the torches of the women around me, educating them about midlife care, providing excellent care, and continuing to learn how to be the best clinician I can be. Not to mention I'll be building community within and around my practice, so our light can burn brighter together.

You may not light a bonfire in this lifetime. But that doesn't mean your spark, your candle, your torch, won't light up the space your in; each time we shine our light, we inspire others to do so, too. So keep shining, keep lighting other torches, because it will contribute to the cleansing fires that will change this world.

It's no wonder they called her a trailBLAZER. She helped to light this world on fire; Gloria, may you rest in power and in the peace of knowing your light is carried throughout this world.
