There is something powerful about returning to the same place with a different awareness.
In Ashtanga, that place is Samastitihi. It may look almost identical to Tadasana (Mountain Pose), which is why the two are often used interchangeably. But in the Ashtanga tradition, the distinction is subtle and meaningful. Tadasana is the posture itself, cultivating strength, stability, and alignment. Samastitihi is a state of balanced, even standing - a moment to gather your attention, steady your breath, and become fully present before moving forward.
Throughout the practice, we return here again and again.
Each time, we have an opportunity to notice something new - a steadier breath, a quieter mind, a stronger foundation.
Perhaps that's one of yoga's greatest lessons: growth isn't always found in what's next. Sometimes it's found in returning.
