Dear Strong Black Woman,
Somewhere along the way, you were taught that love looks like self-sacrifice.
That strength means swallowing your needs.
That saying âyesâ when you mean ânoâ is noble.
That exhaustion is simply the price you pay for being dependable.
So you became the fixer.
The safe place.
The one who keeps showing up, even when your own heart is asking for a break.
But what if strength was never meant to cost you yourself?
What if our mothers and grandmothers carried impossible loads not because they wanted to, but because they had to?
And what if our healing is deciding that survival is no longer the family legacy?
We are the women learning to rest without guilt.
To choose ourselves without apology.
To say no without explaining.
To teach our daughters and granddaughters that their worth is not measured by how much of themselves they give away.
You have carried enough.
There is another way.
And you are allowed to choose it.
