It’s About Greater Focus for me
As we arrive into the final weekend before our Summer Solstice Art & Wellness Retreat, I have been noticing one word showing up for me: focus.

This morning, I pulled a card from one of my favorite decks Steven Farmer’s Power Animal oracle deck, the Hawk: Focus. Choose your priorities and eliminate all distractions.

This card made me chuckle because lately it feels as though the universe has been gently (and sometimes not so gently) reminding me of something I’ve known for a while.

For years, I have worn the badge of being a “mover and shaker” proudly. Like many small business owners, wellness practitioners, parents, and caregivers, we often get used to the daily juggling. For me it was largely related to work:

Create the newsletter. Order the supplies. Promote the class. Support the instructors. Help the customer. Plan the event. Repeat. The problem is that multitasking often disguises itself as your best productivity.

What I’ve come to realize is that constantly shifting my attention leaves me feeling scattered rather than accomplished. While there is certainly a time to move quickly, there is also a time to become intentional. To choose what truly matters and allow the rest to wait.

As I prepare for the Summer Solstice Retreat, my intention is not to do more. My intention is to do less—but with greater presence.

The hawk doesn’t watch ten directions at once. It selects a point of focus and commits its attention. There is something powerful in that lesson.

Perhaps this final week before the retreat is inviting all of us to ask:

What deserves my attention right now?
What distractions can I release?
Where am I spreading myself too thin?
What would happen if I focused on one meaningful thing?
