At 23, I opened a bubble tea shop believing hard work and passion would be enough.

It didn’t work out.

And for a while, that felt like failure.

But closing that business taught me lessons success probably couldn’t have taught me—the importance of understanding the numbers, planning ahead, adapting, and knowing the difference between loving the work and building a sustainable business.

That chapter ended.

I didn’t.

I carried those lessons forward, and they became part of the foundation for what I would build next.

At 23, I thought running a business meant being great at what I did.

Make a great product. Take care of customers. Work hard.

Then I opened a bubble tea shop—and learned what business ownership actually demands. 🧋

Doing the work and building a financially healthy business are two very different skills.

You can be busy all day and still not know:

Are your margins healthy?
Where is your cash actually going?
Are taxes being planned for—or simply dealt with later?
Are you building something sustainable?

That experience changed the way I looked at business forever.
