Things worth getting out of the house for this week around Camden, Burlington and Gloucester County.

Thursday, September 3: Laughter Yoga at 7 p.m. at the Moorestown Library. The library notes you can do the whole thing seated in a chair. Registration is required and seats were going fast.

Friday, September 4: Senior Card Group, noon to 4 p.m. at the Camden County Library Vogelson Branch, 203 Laurel Road in Voorhees. Hand and Foot, no sign-up needed.

Friday, September 4: Glassboro Car Show and Food Truck Festival, 5 to 9 p.m. in downtown Glassboro. No admission charge, complimentary downtown parking, live music and about 300 cars.

Saturday, September 5: Collingswood Farmers' Market, 8 a.m. to noon along the PATCO line, and fireworks that night at 8:30. You can watch from Knight Park or the high school, though no cars are allowed in Knight Park.

Sunday, September 6: Plant Swap at the Moorestown Library, 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Drop in, take one, leave one, no registration.

The call almost never starts with the word respite. It starts with a daughter saying she is fine, she has it handled, and then it comes out that she has not slept a full night in months. Here is the hard truth we say gently: the caregiver often wears down before the person being cared for does. Respite care, from a few hours to a few weeks, is how you keep standing. There is even a Medicare GUIDE benefit that covers in-home respite at no cost for many dementia families. If you are the one holding it all together in Gloucester County, it is worth a read. A son in Moorestown called us after his mother asked him the same question four times in one phone call. He was not looking to move her anywhere. He wanted to know if she could stay in her own house, and for how long.

Tonight, 6:30 p.m., South County branch: adult craft club. Bring whatever you are already working on. No registration needed.

Thursday, 2 p.m., Voorhees branch: building computer confidence. For anyone who wants to get steadier on a computer without feeling rushed.

Friday, 10:30 a.m., Voorhees branch: an introduction to Google Drive and Google Docs.

Friday, noon, Voorhees branch: the senior card group. Cards and company, and it runs every week.
