Martin (Marty) Evord Dye, 63, of Eureka Kansas, passed away on Wednesday October 14, 2026—or so the rumor goes, having stubbornly lived life on his own terms.

Born on September 5, 1963, in Caney, Kansas to Delbert and Clarasena (Wells) Dye. Marty graduated from Sedan High School in 1979 then went on to further his education in EMT/Firefighting at Coffeyville Community College. He worked as an EMT/Firefighter for serval years until retiring in 2006.

Marty met the love of his life Cindy in 1984 and that’s when their love story began, they later married on June 12, 1984. Cindy remembers when she couldn’t find her birth control pills because someone hid them because he was ready to be a dad (we all know who that was).

Marty and Cindy couldn’t wait to start a family of their own, and their child meant the world to them. Aaron was born March 24, 1984.

Marty will always be remembered for his willingness to help anyone who needed it and the way he would give the shirt off his back. We’ll always imagine hearing him say “I’m still here because I’m too ornery for heaven and the devil is scared of me” one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband, dad, grandfather, and friend, we will miss Marty every day. Marty’s memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.

Marty loved to fish and hunt, was a Kansas City Chiefs fan, loved watching wrestling, but his favorite hobby, spending time with his grandkids. Marty was ornery, a hard worker, dedicated and his family's hero.

Marty is preceded in death by both of his parents, a grandchild, a great-grandchild, his 4 legged best friend, and many other relatives, and is survived by his wife Cindy Dye of Eureka, Kansas, his son Aaron Dye (Misty White) of Eureka, Kansas, his grandson Terrance (Crystal) Dye of Sedan, Kansas, granddaughter Brooklyn Riley of Copan, Oklahoma, grandson Cody Dye of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, grandson Jeffery Arie of Eureka, Kansas, granddaughter Samantha Brewer of Independence, Kansas, granddaughter Evalynn Brewer of Independence, Kansas, and grandson Axel White of Havana, Kansas.
