Today, we honor the memory and lasting legacy of W. Cone Carpenter, Sr., a respected community leader whose vision helped shape funeral service in Cherryville. 💙
Born in 1900 in the North Brook area of Cherryville, Cone Carpenter dedicated his life to serving local families. After graduating from Union Mills High School and pursuing studies at NC State and Brown's Embalming School, he began working for the Hendrick Harrelson Company in 1921. In 1935, he acquired the furniture and funeral business, operating it alongside his brother, Stowe Carpenter, as Carpenter Brothers Furniture and Undertakers, which later became Carpenter's Funeral Home.
More than a business owner, Cone Carpenter built a tradition of compassionate care and service that continues to impact the community today. We are grateful for the foundation he established and the legacy he left behind.
