Ronin Wood Projects Thank you for looking at my page. My name is Joshua Grable. What started as a small paddle project in 2012, turned into a wood passion.

I was asked to complete a non paddle project in 2015 and everything grew from there. I specialize in paddles, but I am willing to take on any small wood project for gifts and special occasions. Why the name Ronin Wood Projects? Ronin is a masterless samurai. I am a wood worker always looking for a challenge. Handmade gifts are the best and I truly put all my effort into your project.

This was a fun project because it got way out of hand in a good funny way. A friend was retiring and my other friend was kinda in charge of the box details. So in typical Josh fashion when there are no rules, just guidelines we just started throwing ideas at each other. I made several changes after the initial draft, something I would never do on a formal project (like I said I was just having fun with this one). The final product came out better than we planned (or not planned. Cherry wood with teak accents.

I love making boxes for the Coast Guard DSF community. Something special I was a part of for 20 years of my career. But being invited to be part of that special day makes it even better. Almost already booked up for 2026 Shadow Box orders. Normally I rest during the winter time but as the orders begin to stack I decided to grab some wood early and begin on my orders. These blocks are the Coast Guard TLEI insignia. Some projects are simple straight forward others are complicated. But all my projects get my full attention.
