Vacations, camps, and longer days can easily push self care to the bottom of the list. Keeping your therapy appointments helps you stay grounded, maintain progress, and have supports through life’s transitions.

You deserve care in every season, not just when life slows down.

Therapy is a place you get to be your true authentic self…you get to laugh, cry, be angry, be afraid, or be hurt. Hopefully your therapist is as cool as Libby and embraces whatever is coming up for you!

“We repeat to repair”⬅️ if you find yourself in your current relationship feeling like you did as a child, there’s a reason. We keep experiencing the same connection patterns until we “resolve” it. Maybe your role was peace keeper in your family and you find yourself as an adult doing it again. Maybe it’s time to be assertive instead of keeping the peace.

Maybe you never felt chosen as a child and recognize the same sensation happening in your adult relationship. Maybe it’s time to choose yourself (and let your partner choose you too).

Maybe as a child you had to always be ready to defend yourself and you’re noticing being on the defensive often in your relationship now. Maybe it’s time to slow down and practice listening to your partner.

Maybe it’s time to explore with us at Connecticut Counseling Center in Cheshire, CT.

Couples therapy won’t focus on who is “right”, it will focus on the patterns of communication, what to do different, and how to feel connected to your partner

“But I need to defend/correct/explain before I can hear my partner”
No, you don’t. You’ve been conditioned to react instead of respond. You’ve been taught to debate instead of understand. You will get a chance to explain yourself AFTER you let your person know you hear how they feel.
