The question I get most from Primary Care ODs: "How can I really offer VT without specializing in it like you have?"

I've been a VTOD for almost 20 years.

The answer is simple: "You don't need 20 years of VT experience to offer your patients solutions to the issues they came to you for."

You just need to listen to find out what they need and provide the program built by an expert that delivers on that need.

You don't need to learn more. You need to provide access.

Teachers see children using their vision for hours every day—which means they may notice subtle patterns that don't show up during a quick eye exam.

If a student is bright, motivated and trying hard but consistently struggles with visually demanding work, it may be worth looking beyond “They just need to focus more.”

📚 Reading without headaches. Homework without tears. Learning without the visual struggle. 👀💜

When reading and schoolwork consistently lead to headaches, frustration, or visual fatigue, it may be more than just a difficult assignment.

Sometimes, the eyes and brain are working harder than they should.

If your child is struggling despite trying their best, it may be time to look deeper at how they’re using their vision.

✨ Better vision skills can make everyday learning feel easier.

Back-to-school season is here—and if your child is struggling in the classroom, don’t assume it’s just attention, motivation, or learning. 👀

Sometimes, the missing piece could be vision.

Difficulty reading, losing their place, avoiding schoolwork, getting frequent headaches, or struggling to stay focused can sometimes be connected to how the eyes and brain work together.

This school year, look beyond the obvious. It could be your child’s vision. 💜

🌎 FAQ: Do you offer vision therapy for remote patients?

Yes, we do! 💜💚

Distance doesn’t always have to be a barrier to getting the support your child needs. We offer remote vision therapy options for patients who aren’t able to visit our clinic in person.

Through virtual sessions and guided activities, we can help patients continue working on their visual skills from home.

📍 Not local? No problem!

Your location shouldn’t have to limit your access to vision care. 👀✨

📚 Reading shouldn’t be this hard.

With school starting next week, now is a great time to check in on how your child feels about reading.

If reading is taking a lot of effort, causing frustration, or leaving your child tired, there may be more going on than simply needing to “try harder.”

👀 Visual tracking
🎯 Focusing
👁️ Eye teaming
🧠 Visual processing

These visual skills all play an important role in comfortable, efficient reading.

Before the school year gets into full swing, ask yourself: Is reading harder for my child than it should be? 💜💚

👀 Could your child benefit from vision therapy?

Sometimes, the signs aren't as obvious as blurry vision.

Check any that sound familiar:

📚 Struggles with reading
🤕 Complains of headaches after close work
✏️ Has difficulty with handwriting
⚽ Struggles with sports or tracking the ball
🧠 Has trouble staying focused during near work
👀 Gets visually tired or needs frequent breaks

These symptoms can have many causes, but visual skills may be one piece of the puzzle.

💜 If you’re noticing several of these signs, a functional vision evaluation may help you better understand how your child's visual system is working.

How many did you check?

👁️ MYTH vs. FACT: My Child Passed a Vision Screening, So Their Vision Is Fine.

MYTH:
“If my child passed a vision screening, there’s nothing wrong with their vision.”

FACT:
A vision screening is an important first step, but it doesn’t always assess all of the visual skills a child uses for learning and everyday activities.

Vision involves much more than seeing letters clearly from a distance. 👀🧠

A more comprehensive evaluation can look at skills such as:

📚 Eye tracking for reading
🤝 Eye teaming
🔍 Focusing
🧠 Visual processing
✏️ Visual-motor skills
📐 Visual perception and spatial awareness

So if your child is struggling with reading, handwriting, copying from the board, homework, sports, or visual fatigue—even after passing a screening—it may be worth taking a closer look at how their visual system is working.

💜 Passing a screening doesn't always tell the whole story.

“𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐬𝐨 𝐬𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐲?” 🤔📚

Sometimes, slow reading isn't about motivation or effort. Reading is a complex visual task, and several visual skills work together to help children read comfortably and efficiently.

👀 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 — Can their eyes move smoothly across the page?
🤝 𝐄𝐲𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 — Can both eyes work together comfortably?
🔍 𝐅𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 — Can they maintain clear focus up close?
🧠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 — Can they efficiently make sense of what they're seeing?

If your child takes a long time to read, loses their place, rereads frequently, or avoids reading, 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐲 𝐛𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐳𝐳𝐥𝐞.

💜 Sometimes, reading is a visual task, too.

What happens during a vision therapy evaluation? 👀🧠

Wondering what to expect? A vision therapy evaluation looks beyond how clearly your child can see. We assess the visual skills that help them read, learn, write, move, and perform comfortably.

Depending on your child’s needs, we may look at skills such as:

👀 Eye tracking
🎯 Eye teaming
🔍 Focusing
🧠 Visual processing
📐 Spatial awareness
✏️ Visual-motor skills

The goal is to understand how your child’s visual system is working—and whether there are skills that may be getting in the way of everyday activities.

If your child is struggling with reading, schoolwork, sports, handwriting, or visual fatigue, a vision therapy evaluation may be a helpful next step. 💜
