Hey Yo! My name is Sienna, and I’m the owner and creator of Demure Lyfe.

Nestled in Historic Downtown Chester, NY, Demure Lyfe has become a gathering place for those seeking spiritual education, healing, and connection. With so many new people following me, I wanted to take a moment to properly reintroduce myself. ✨

I’m a Hoodoo practitioner, Rootworker, Reiki Master Teacher, herbalist, spiritual educator, and lifelong student of the mysteries.

I also own the only Afro Indigenous-owned spiritual shoppe in the Hudson Valley, NY area that is primarily focused on Hoodoo and Afro Indigenous spiritual traditions.

A few random things about me:

✨ I love learning and will happily disappear down a research rabbit hole for hours.

✨ My idea of a good time is reading three books at once and somehow ending up with five more.

✨ Teaching is one of my favorite things to do.

✨ I ask a lot of questions and rarely accept things at surface level.

I saw a reel the other day that made me think. The young lady said “ I haven’t spoke to my best friend in 2 years … I stopped reaching out and she never reached back”.

It made me reflect because I’ve also had dynamics like that and I realized that it was a energy draining connection to begin with.

Sometimes we confuse history with alignment.Just because someone has been in your life for years doesn’t mean they still have access to the version of you you’re becoming.

And honestly… real connection shouldn’t always feel like maintenance work.

A lot of people are spiritually exhausted because they keep trying to grow inside dead environments.

Dead friendships.
Dead conversations.
Dead dynamics.
Dead versions of themselves.

And instead of accepting that something has reached its end, they keep pouring more energy into it hoping effort will resurrect what spirit already removed.

Some of y’all have been overwatering people who only know how to take from you.

People who only feel connected to you when you’re struggling.
When you’re available.
When you’re fixing.
When you’re abandoning yourself to maintain access…

The second you stop emotionally carrying the relationship, suddenly the “connection” falls apart.

Because some bonds are only alive through your labor.

And the truth is…
your Spirit knows when something no longer has roots.

Your body knows too.

Your spirit is tired of trying to force life into dead soil.

The moment you stop overexplaining…
stop chasing…
stop proving…your energy starts returning to you.

Your thoughts become clearer.
Your discernment gets sharper.
Your creativity comes back.
Your body softens.

Because now your roots finally have somewhere to grow.

A lot of healing is not adding more love into your life.
It’s finally stopping the energetic hemorrhage.

Some people will call you distant because they no longer have unlimited access to your spirit.

Let them.

A tree grows deeper when it stops trying to feed an entire forest by itself.

A lot of our ancestors paid attention to patterns, energy, behavior, land, signs, death, protection, and the unseen consequences of certain actions. What got passed down wasn’t always fear. Sometimes it was observation repeated over generations.

Half these folks be calling our traditions “crazy” while walking around spiritually wide open and confused. Baby, our people ain’t just make stuff up for fun. Them old sayings had weight, protection, and real life consequences tied to them.

Some of those beliefs came from spiritual systems.
Some came from survival.
Some came from watching what happened when people ignored certain boundaries.

Not everything old is foolish.
Not everything modern is wise.

A lot of things called “superstition” were really people paying attention.

Most folks don’t realize how spiritually expensive their attention has become.

Distractions are at an all-time high.
Not just digitally.
Emotionally. Spiritually. Mentally.

Arguments.
Doomscrolling.
Obsessions.
One-sided relationships.
Constant comparison.
Emotionally unavailable people.
Drama disguised as connection.
Overconsumption.
Hyperstimulation.
People who only contact you when they need access to your energy.

Some things are not pulling on your attention because they love you.
They are pulling on your attention because your focus feeds them.

Every thought repeated long enough becomes an energetic investment.
Every emotional attachment becomes a doorway.
Every unresolved fixation drains something from the spirit.

A distracted person is easier to manipulate.
An exhausted person is easier to control.
A confused person struggles to hear themselves clearly.

That is why discernment matters.
That is why boundaries matter.
That is why intentionality matters.

Be mindful of what constantly receives your emotional energy without ever restoring you.

Attention is spiritual currency.
Spend it accordingly.

There comes a point in healing where your spirit stops needing constant proof.

You just know.

You know when energy feels clean.
You know when someone’s presence carries hidden competition beneath their smile.

Discernment becomes quieter as it matures. More precise. More embodied.

It grows through discipline.
Through self-control.
Through emotional regulation.
Through people who know how to protect what is sacred instead of constantly exposing it to harm.

Lately, I’ve been realizing how deeply healing changes your relationship with access.
Not everybody deserves proximity to your mind, your softness, your spirit, or your vision.

Some doors close because your ancestors can see what your heart has not fully accepted yet.
