Hazel Pittman Center The Chester County Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse was established in 1974 as a private, non-profit organization

EDUCATION: Educational services are designed to help individuals understand substance use disorders and other behavioral health problems, as well as identify personal factors that may increase risk level. Referrals can be made by employers, court system officials, school personnel, and parents or family members. While educational services can be provided individually, they are offered most often in groups. PREVENTION: The purpose of prevention is to educate community members on healthy lifestyles where alcohol and drugs are only used in legal and responsible ways. The Hazel Pittman Center offers an array of Prevention programs that implement various strategies to help prevent substance abuse and promote healthy lifestyles. TREATMENT & COUNSELING: Treatment is a process that leads to change, and it โ€œlooksโ€ different for everyone. Qualified staff guide the process by employing their education and learned therapeutic skills, along with evidence-based techniques and resources. The Hazel Pittman Center provides outpatient services. This means that people appropriate to receive clinical services from our staff are medically and emotionally stable and not in need of detoxification or inpatient services. While we can and will refer to other agencies for more intensive care, our clients do not have to leave their homes for more than a few hours to participate in treatment. Most attend counseling sessions between 1-4 times per week and remain in services until they have achieved their desired goals

๐Ÿ“ฃ๐ŸŽ“ PARENTS: LET'S TALK ABOUT STUDENT APATHY!

Have you heard your child say...

๐Ÿ˜ฉ โ€œI don't care.โ€
๐Ÿ“š โ€œSchool is boring.โ€
๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝ โ€œWhat's the point?โ€
๐Ÿ“ฑ โ€œI'll do it later.โ€

Or maybe you've noticed a child who once cared about school becoming unmotivated, disconnected, or uninterested.

Before we automatically call it โ€œlaziness,โ€ let's ask a better question:

๐Ÿ’ญ What's really going on underneath the behavior?

Join us for our next Parent University Webinar Series:

In the first 17 days of September, approximately 7 suspected overdoses were reported in Chester County.

So far in 2026, our community has experienced 68 suspected overdoses, including 5 suspected fatal overdoses.

Knowing how to recognize and respond to an overdose matters. Someone experiencing an opioid overdose may not wake up, may have slow or no breathing, pinpoint pupils, gurgling or choking sounds, or blue or gray lips, skin, or fingernails.

If you suspect an overdose:
๐Ÿ“ž Call 911
๐Ÿ’œ Give Narcan if available
๐Ÿซ Support breathing
๐Ÿค Stay with the person until help arrives

Don't wait until an emergency to wish you had Narcan.

We're making it easy to be prepared:

FREE NARCAN DISTRIBUTION
๐Ÿ“… Monday, September 28th & Tuesday, September 29
โฐ 2:00โ€“5:00 p.m.
๐Ÿ“ 28th-Chester County Library 29th-Great Falls Library

No questions asked.

Overdose can happen to anyone. Narcan can save a life. Carry it for a friend, a family member, a neighbor, or someone you've never met.

Every second counts. Every life matters.
Learn the signs. Save lives. ๐Ÿ’œ
