WHY CAN THE CANCER WE MOST WANT TO FIND BE THE HARDEST ONE TO DETECT IN BLOOD?
The goal of screening is to find cancer early—before it has had a chance to spread.
Yet in a major published study of a DNA-based multi-cancer blood test, only 16.8% of Stage I cancers were detected, compared with 90.1% of Stage IV cancers.
Which raises the question:
If DNA is difficult to detect when cancer is small, at its earliest stages, shouldn’t we be looking for other cancer-associated signals too?
Our new National Cancer Screen white paper, Beyond ctDNA, explores this Early-Detection Paradox and why proteins such as MPS-1 may offer a complementary biological signal for multi-cancer detection.
Cancer leaves more than DNA behind. MAYBE EARLY DETECTION SHOULD LOOK FOR MORE THAN DNA.
