Sometimes the most powerful technique in equine massage is simply being still. Static holds involve placing gentle, sustained pressure on an area of tension and allowing the horse's body time to respond. This technique can help encourage relaxation, reduce muscle guarding, calm the nervous system, and promote natural release of tension.
Often, you'll see signs of relaxation such as yawning, licking and chewing, sighing, or a lowered head as the horse begins to let go of stress and discomfort.
Healing begins in the quiet moments.
