# Part 4 of 4: What Woodworking and Furniture Refinishing Can Teach Us About Therapy
The project has finally come to completion.
I found a lock that worked exactly the way I wanted it to, every drawer functions as it should, and everything is now stored safely and securely. After hours, days, and even weeks of work, this once-worn file cabinet has been transformed into something both beautiful and purposeful.
As I step back and look at the finished project, I feel a deep sense of accomplishment. Not because it was easy, but because it wasn't.
This project reminded me of one of the greatest truths about therapy: healing is not about becoming someone new. It's about uncovering the beauty, strength, and resilience that have been there all along.
Like this file cabinet, we all experience scratches, dents, disappointments, and seasons that leave us feeling worn down. There are times when we have to strip away old layers, patiently work through imperfections, pause when life interrupts us, and even ask for help along the way. None of those moments mean we are broken. They are simply part of the restoration process.
When healing is complete—or perhaps more accurately, when we reach a new stage of healing—we don't leave without scars. Instead, we leave stronger, wiser, and more equipped for what lies ahead. Our experiences become part of our story, but they no longer define our worth.
The finished file cabinet isn't perfect. If you look closely, you'll still find small imperfections. But to me, those imperfections tell the story of the journey. They remind me of the patience, perseverance, problem-solving, and care that went into restoring it.
People are much the same. Perfection has never been the goal. Growth is. Healing is. Learning to embrace who you are while continuing to become who you were created to be is what truly matters.
Thank you for joining me through this four-part journey. My hope is that this project has reminded you that healing takes time, patience, courage, and sometimes the willingness to trust the process—even when progress feels slow.
Just as this old file cabinet found new purpose, so can you.
**At Wounds to Wings LLC, I believe healing isn't about erasing your past—it's about transforming it into strength. Because where there are wounds, there is also the possibility of growth, hope, and wings.**
Look forward to hearing from you soon!
