Today is World Mental Health Day 💚

This year’s theme, set by the World Health Organization, is “Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change.”

People with lived mental health experience are too often asked to share their trauma on a panel, only to be excluded from the decisions that actually affect their lives and care. Meaningful engagement means recognizing lived experience as an irreplaceable form of expertise—one that should guide policy, shape primary care training, and lead the urgent shift away from long-stay psychiatric institutions toward rights-based community care.

We want to take a moment to offer ways to get involved and to provide resources that can help folks access necessary care.

This year’s campaign calls for their voices to shape the policies, services and decisions that affect their lives.

Together we can reduce stigma, share resources, and remind ourselves that those who experience mental health challenges are invaluable and should be

🧠 From Insight to Action: Where does OT fit into mental health care? ☕️

Psychotherapy can help clients understand themselves, build insight, and identify what they want to change — but what happens when they’re ready to bring that insight into their everyday lives?

Join us for a coffee chat exploring mental health occupational therapy (OT) and how it can complement psychotherapy within interdisciplinary care.

We’ll talk about how OT can support clients with:
✨ Routines and daily participation
✨ Executive functioning
✨ Sensory needs
✨ Environmental supports
✨ Turning therapeutic insight into practical, sustainable changes

We’ll also explore what OT can offer, when a referral or collaboration might be helpful, and how therapists and OTs can work together to support the whole person.

Whether you’re new to mental health OT or simply curious about how it can fit into your clinical work, this conversation is a chance to learn more and expand your interdisciplinary toolkit.

☕️ Come chat, learn, and leave with a clearer understanding of where OT fits in mental health care! Sign up at the link below:

We are excited to announce an upcoming, full-day event that explores therapeutic application of non-Western approaches to healing: SAGE Talks, coming March 2027!

The aim of SAGE Talks is to support the decolonization of clinical mental health through an exploration of therapeutic application of non-Western healing traditions and practices. We are looking for practitioners in an array of areas and from an array of backgrounds (potential ideas include - but are not limited to - Reiki, Acupuncture, Shamanic Practices, Tarot/Mamluk, Dance, Ayurveda, Massage, Ritualistic Healing, and more).

We are working to build a schedule with a diversity of experiences, perspectives, and approaches. The focus will be on providing attendees ways to bring elements of these practices into session with their clients (rather than a mastery of the practice). For example, ways that acupuncture could provide guidance on somatic massage, or using tarot as a tool for supporting self-reflection. If you’d like to present or know someone who would be a great fit, please complete the interest form below to share your contact information and ideas for what you'd like to talk about at SAGE Talks 2027.

Have you ever wondered how to repair a conflict or structure an apology in a way that leads to authentic connection? Conflict is a universal part of the human experiences, but we often aren’t taught how to reconnect in a meaningful way afterwards. Join us for an upcoming webinar focused on the repair process following conflicts, including what a meaningful apology can look like.

Nora and Rachel will lead us in:
- Distinguishing between an apology and true relational repair
- Understanding the gap between intention and impact in interpersonal dynamics
- Identifying the important elements of a meaningful apology
- Implementing specific language choices that can help an apology get to the heart of the repair process

Group therapy offers something uniquely powerful — shared understanding, connection, and the reminder that you’re not alone in what you’re navigating. At Sage Therapy, our groups are thoughtfully designed to meet clients where they are, using creativity, reflection, and community as tools for growth.

Current Groups:
✨ Deconstructing Purity Culture with Ryn T. – for q***r and trans adults to explore and process how religious trauma related to purity culture has shaped identity, sexuality, and self-worth
✨ Men’s Anger Management Group with PJ J. – for male-identifying individuals between 25-40 years old who are looking for healthier ways to cope with their anger
✨ Women’s Processing Group with Allison M. — for adult women to explore emotions, relationships, and life transitions
✨ ADHD Late Diagnosis Process Group for Women & Non-Binary People with Whitney F. – for adults navigating later-in-life ADHD diagnosis, focused on identity exploration, self-understanding, and building compassionate coping tools
✨ Grief and Loss: For Those Grieving the Loss of a Parent with Aubrey – a gentle, validating space for adults grieving the death of a parent or guardian, offering connection, reflection, and support through the grieving process

If you’re curious about group therapy or wondering if one of these spaces could be a good fit, we’d love to help you learn more. Visit our website or reach out to our team to get started:

What can Chicago’s mascots teach us about coping? Turns out… quite a lot. 👀

From Benny reminding us to make room for joy, to Tommy Hawk reminding us that we don’t have to do everything alone, to Skye showing us that strength and softness can coexist—there’s a coping skill somewhere in every mascot.

And maybe that’s the biggest takeaway: there’s no one “right” way to cope. What helps one person regulate, recharge, or reconnect might not work for someone else—and that’s okay.

So whether you need to move your body, lean on your people, set a boundary, get curious, have some fun, or give yourself permission to start over… consider this your sign to find the coping skills that actually work for you.

Chicago, which mascot is your coping-skill twin? 👇

In this webinar you’ll learn to:
⭐️Distinguish between an apology and true relational repair
⭐️Explore the gap between intention and impact in interpersonal dynamics
⭐️Understand the important elements of a meaningful apology
⭐️Utilize specific language choices that can help an apology get to the heart of the repair process

Sometimes, the loss after a breakup or divorce isn’t just the relationship, it can feel like you’ve lost a sense of who you are, too.

This group is for women and female-identifying individuals, age 25+, who are navigating life after a breakup or divorce and want support as they reconnect with themselves.

Together, we’ll create space to process grief and loss, strengthen self-identity, rebuild confidence and self-worth, and explore self-compassion as a tool for healing and growth. Most importantly, you don’t have to figure out what comes next alone. 💛

If you’re ready to reconnect with yourself and begin building a hopeful path forward, we’d love to have you join us. Click the link below to learn more and sign up today:
