Living Proof: A Celebration of Living Donors was hosted on Saturday, July 25, 2026. Guest speakers at this inaugural event included, Dr. Higgins, President and Chief Academic Officer, Surgical Director of the Living Kidney Donor Program, Dr. Sela, Chief of Transplant Nephrology, Dr. Shetty, and Living Donor Facilitator and fellow living donor, Shannon D. Wyatt.

We welcomed twenty living kidney donors and some of their recipients. One living donor, donated his kidney only two weeks prior to the event.

A very emotional moment was shared with an anonymous donor and recipient meeting for the first time.

A fun time was had to celebrate and connect with one another, along with food trucks and Rush’s favorite service dogs, Tyra and Murray.

We want to thank our sponsors for making this event happen. We especially thank you and celebrate you, living kidney donors! 💚

💚💙Donate Life 2026 at Rush was a beautiful reminder of the power of generosity and hope. From hearing inspiring stories shared by an organ donor family and a transplant recipient, to learning from experts in transplantation and organ donation, each moment reflected the life-changing impact of this work.
We were especially honored to recognize and remember organ donors at our Donor Memorial Wall.
To the healthcare professionals and advocates who dedicate themselves to this mission every day—thank you for your compassion and commitment. And to the organ donors and their families, thank you for your extraordinary generosity.
Together, we continue to raise awareness and inspire others to give the gift of life. 💚💙
