A day on the water can quickly take an unexpected turn if someone gets hooked.

One of the biggest mistakes people make is trying to quickly pull the fishhook straight back out. Because of the barb, this can cause additional tissue damage.

If someone suffers a fishhook injury:

✔ Stay calm.
✔ Control any bleeding.
✔ Clean the area if possible.
✔ If the hook is deeply embedded, near the eye, face, neck, or another sensitive area, don't try to remove it yourself. Cover the injury and seek medical care.
✔ After removal, monitor for signs of infection and seek medical attention if needed.

Knowing when 𝗻𝗼𝘁 to act is just as important as knowing what to do.

🚨 CPR FACT 🚨

𝗞𝗶𝗱𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗼.

Many people believe children are too young to make a difference during a cardiac emergency.

The truth is, children can become lifesavers.

⚡ Retrieve an AED.
🫀 Begin CPR if they're able.
🚑 Help guide first responders to the scene.

As children grow, so does their ability to perform effective CPR. More importantly, they develop the confidence to take action instead of standing by.

Recently, a fourth-grade student in Indiana was recognized after helping save her father's life by performing CPR she had learned at school when her mother became too exhausted to continue. Her quick actions helped keep her father alive until first responders arrived.
